Mrs. Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Remember our aspirin mask? Well, it is time to tackle some new problems: environmental damage and aging.

Beauty Tried and True: Part 2 : wedding beauty 1 1

Source

You may have heard of Lycopene, which has been shown to reduce risks for cancer, diabetes and heart disease when you eat tomatoes. But did you know you could save the top of the tomato for a special facial treat? Tomatoes are rich in anti-oxidants so they counter the aging effects on the skin by cutting out the number of free radicals, and they also help moisturize dry, winter skin. Here’s how.

What you need:

1 ripe organic tomato (just the top with the stem)
1 tablespoon of fine granulated sugar

How to do it:

  1. Sprinkle the tablespoon of sugar over the pulpy side of the sliced tomato top, or put the sugar in a dish and dip the tomato until evenly coated.
  2. Take the sugary tomato and begin to rub it in a circular motion on your face. Take advantage of the firm flexibility of the tomato to scrub all those hard to isolate nooks by your nose and eyes.
  3. After you’re completely red-faced, allow the tomato/sugar residue to penetrate the skin for ten minutes.
  4. Rinse your face with cool water and pat dry with a towel.

After using this my face was a hot mess of red, but once I let my face cool down my skin was so soft and it felt super moisturized. I didn’t see any immediate effects, but this mask is for environmental damage and aging, and those are results you are not going to see instantaneously. I think I’ll keep trying it, but I would really recommend doing this right before you plan to shower because little seeds and juice were dripping off of my face.

Do you have any at-home masks to share?

I’ve read a few times on the board about a organic honey mask! I have been using it 3x a week and see a lot of improvement. Just a little bit of honey mixed with a few drops of water. It isn’t messy like i assumed, nor sticky/drippy. I’ve been leaving it on for 30 minutes at a time before i hop in the shower. It is antibacterial, moisturizes, and helps with acne. I have also been using Witch Hazel toner (Dickinson’s) it’s now my MUST HAVE product lol.

@Miss Pug, a href=”#comment-911548″>DollyLava: HA! I had it on and I looked like a total tool! I love you girls, I really do, but I also love myself and that’s not one that I wanted floating out on the internet for all to see. I can see myself being horrified by the aspirin picture later, maybe I’ll take a picture with the under eye circle one. It should be a doozy too. :)

This is so fun…I love that you are doing these at home treatments! I want to put them in my arsenal. Have you ever done hair masks? I have tried various different ones, from mayonnaise one time to avocado/banana another time…

Here’s my favorite for moisturizing — mash up half an avocado and add in some honey. Put it on your face, and leave it on for 10 minutes or so — it will tingle, which is proof to me that it’s actually doing something. Wash off and admire your glowy radiant skin.

Even though there were no pictures (shootsies!), this one is intriguing! You’ll have to keep us posted if you actually continue with it and if it works!!!
