You’ve all seen my little fluffy fluffertons here, but for those that don’t remember them, here they are this past Halloween:
Scout (the troublemaker), Sophie (the loveable ham), Spade (the one who thinks he’s human)
Sophie Pumpkin, totally unrelated, but come on, I had to show it off.
There, you’ve been refreshed. Thank you for letting me show off my puppies, and my mad pumpkin carving skills. Anywho…
I didn’t want to be one of those people that dresses their dog up in full wedding gear (though I sometimes do that for other occasions… see Hula Dancer Costume of ’08… guilty as charged). I wanted to keep their “outfits” less outfit-y and more accessory-y? Am I making any sense? So after seeing pictures like this:

I knew that a flower collar would be perfect for little miss Sophie. I used some purple ribbon I had left over from something or other, took a few flowers that I bought for our centerpieces and removed them from the stems, and just hot glued them onto the ribbon. I’ll probably go back and reinforce the flowers with a few stitches because Scout (the troublemaker of the bunch) likes to attack Sophie when she’s wearing the flower collar:

“I’m done posing for you, goodnight”
Quick, easy, and adorable. I thought a flower collar was a little feminine for my (not so) big (not so) tough boys, so I searched Google for some doggie inspiration.

I think dogs with ring bearer pillows are so adorable. However, I have 2 boys and 2 pillows just doesn’t make any sense to me. Plus, our dogs would absolutely hate having a pillow strapped to them. Next!
The doggie bow tie. Uhm, freakin’ adorable. Unfortunately, my dogs’ fur would just swallow up the bow tie. Seriously, you wouldn’t even be able to tell they were wearing them. How about a…
Doggie necktie! Eeee! Can I tell you how much I love this? It’s supercalifragilisticexpialamazing! Well of course my Fuzzy Ma Guzzies can rock a necktie! Instead of buying one, I made my own (supremely easy) necktie.
I took the same purple ribbon I used for Sophie’s collar, put it around their necks and tied them like ties. Once I had the tie shape perfected, I loosened the tie to slip it over their heads and hot glued the knot so it wouldn’t get all funky (make sure you don’t hot glue the adjustable sliding end). Then, just cut the ends to your desired length and melt the edges with a lighter so they don’t fray. Voila, neckties!
