Mrs. Cola, Mountain View, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Product Communications and Promotions Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Managing Partner and Senior Designer Engagement Date: March 5, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: The Mountain Terrace, Woodside, CA About Me: I’m a Washington State native, enjoying life in Silicon Valley California with my fiancé, our three kitties and one leopard gecko. I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.
About Mrs. Cola

I’ve only been to one wedding that had bathroom baskets before, but boy was I glad to find mints for after dinner and a hair scrunchie to tie up my hair for dancing!

So I figured I’d give our guests the same courtesy, and provide some essentials in the bathrooms, in case they forgot anything they might need to make them more comfortable during our reception. And, since none of the contents will go bad anytime soon, it was something that I could easily tackle way ahead of time.

After a visit to Michaels where I got 4 baskets for $20 on sale (the other 2 will be used for our guest book table and holding programs), and Target for all the stuff to go into the baskets ($153.96 before tax), I had everything I needed. Here’s what went into the baskets:

Men’s Bathroom Basket:

  • Mini travel lint roller
  • 2 travel packs of Shout stain remover wipes
  • Trident mints
  • Orbits mints
  • 2 Breathsavers mints
  • Orange Tic Tacs
  • Altoids smalls
  • Box of Kleenex (green)
  • Travel size Tums
  • Box of Band Aids
  • Neosporin To Go Spray
  • Travel pack of Q-Tips
  • Claritin
  • Excedrin Migraine
  • Halls
  • Travel Lotion
  • Travel Purel
  • Spray on Degree Antiperspirant

  • 2 travel packs of Shout stain remover wipes
  • Trident mints
  • Orbits mints
  • 2 Breathsavers mints
  • Orange Tic Tacs
  • Altoids smalls
  • Box of Kleenex (purple)
  • Travel size Tums
  • Box of Band Aids
  • Neosporin To Go Spray
  • Travel pack of Q-Tips
  • Claritin
  • Excedrin Migraine
  • Halls
  • Travel Lotion
  • Travel Purel
  • Spray on Secret Antiperspirant
  • 2 nail files
  • 2 scented body mists
  • Hairspray
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair scrunchies
  • Brush and comb
  • Clear nail polish
  • Travel packs of pads and tampons

At first I was going to just stick everything in the baskets, but because of the uneven woven bottom, things didn’t stay arranged very well.

In Case You Forgot Something.... It's in the Bathroom! : wedding reception Img 50202 In Case You Forgot Something.... It's in the Bathroom! : wedding reception Img 50203 So I made little divders out of cardboard, and covered them with left over purple paper.

In Case You Forgot Something.... It's in the Bathroom! : wedding reception Img 503 In Case You Forgot Something.... It's in the Bathroom! : wedding reception Img 50301 Then all that was left to do was to wrap the baskets in ribbon (I used a layer of purple satin on top of a layer of chocolate grosgrain), and make little signs saying “In Case You Forgot Something…”

It's in the Bathroom! : wedding reception Img 50405 So there you have it, bathroom baskets, ready to be boxed up until June! And, if there are any left overs, which there likely will be, most of this stuff will get used up by Mr. Cola and me, so overall, I think it was a good little investment, and will hopefully make some of our forgetful guests happy we thought of them.

Will you be having bathroom baskets at your reception? What useful things did you decide to put in them?

those are great ideas–i’m particularly impressed that you found so much stuff for the guys! while i’ve never used one of the bathroom baskets at other weddings, i think just the thought is really nice.

You sure covered a lot of needs–your guests will be totally covered! I didn’t do baskets, but I think they’re super useful.

Good idea. I have been to events that have had similar baskets and I TOTALLY appreciated it. I think we will be doing the same for our reception.

I’m thinking of doing bathroom baskets too, and you’ve given me a lot of great examples on what to include! I do think they are very convenient and useful to guests - very good idea!

I love this idea. How expensive were they? Travel sized stuff probably helped, right?

Love your list, and especially love the dividers! The basket/tray for the women does get awfully full, so it’s great that you found a way to keep it nice and organized!

Two things you might have missed…safety pins and pantyhose. I know they were needed at my wedding and I didn’t have extra.

Very thoughtful — and I love that you did dividers to keep them more organized. A girl after my own heart. :)

Another thing to include - mini sewing kit. You never know!

But, don’t expect much to be left - our baskets were wiped clean!

Great job, I love the dividers to keep things organized!! I always appreciate bathroom baskets, and definitely want to do some - you’ve reminded me I can get after that now since nothing will ‘go bad’. Thanks Cola!

Is there a chance you might need bug spray? Mosquitoes and black flies are definitely going to be a worry at my wedding, so I’m making sure I have some for my guests! This one from Avon is supposed to be great: http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.aspx?src_page=product_list.aspx&level1_id=300&level2_id=303&pdept_id=344&dept_id=421&pf_id=31314

These are really comprehensive and thoughtful! And it’s nice to know you can just use up the rest of the stuff if people don’t use it all up!
