About Mrs. Buttons

I Am Not Particularly Romantic

January 6th, 2010 @ 11:14 am by Mrs. Buttons

You know you have one of these people in your group of friends. The one who feels awkward giving hugs (hey, there is something strange and uncomfortable when someone is breathing on your neck!)… someone who isn’t really that big into PDAs. OK, in my group of friends there is more than one of us, but perhaps we are just a strange group…

Did that all change when you met your significant other??? It did for me…

I Am Not Particularly Romantic : wedding relationships Hug

Mr. Buttons gives the best hugs. The very best. I am biased, I realize. If I am having a bad day, I want a hug. If I am having a good day, I want a hug. I want to hug him in public. I want to give him a hug when we are just sitting at home by ourselves. They are the best.

I am almost ashamed at how mushy gushy I have become since I’ve been with Mr. Buttons. I can’t believe that I am the girl who is holding hands in public, sneaking kisses (without a care in the world as to who sees them), and calling her man by a nickname. It seems like just yesterday I was looking at similar couples and silently gagging a little bit. I’m not sure what spurred the change, but Mr. Buttons has certainly brought the lovey-dovey romantic out of me!

Are you big on PDAs with your significant other?

OMG, this is definitely me! I almost feel the need to explain to my friends how I know we’re grossing other people out… but I love his hugs and those sneaky kisses!

OK, I know exactly the kind of person you’re talking about because I AM THAT PERSON. And actually, being with the Dude didn’t really change that! I do love his hugs, but I hate hate hate PDA! He thinks it funny when he tries to hug me and I shrug him off. :)

Hubs and I definitely are lovey on each other, but not too a sick degree…not yet, anyway! Haha.

Heeeheehee, I’m pretty anti-PDA but I understand the feeling! I’m mushy gushy when it’s just the two of us at home… :)

Mr. Library was totally into PDA early on in our relationship, and I had to put the breaks on. We were in high school, and it was just grossing me out at points. Now that we are older and more aware of others, we have branched out into sneaking innocent kisses, lots of hugs, and just general cuddliness. My younger self would be a little embarrassed, but this older version doesn’t care!

@Mrs. Mouse: Haha! I’m glad that I’m not alone! My mother teases me all the time because I recoil from hugs sometimes when I feel someone breathing on my neck…shiverrrrrr

@krissycake: I hear you…we keep it to things like hand-holding in public…

@Mrs. Espresso: @Miss Trail Mix: I get all warm and fuzzy thinking about big bear hugs…

I don’t mind PDA, but Mr. KM does! And then when we’re home, and I’m cranky cause he wouldn’t give me a kiss when I wanted it and he wants to snuggle… well, I don’t want a kiss anymore, just to be difficult! But most of the time, when we’re at home, we are TOTALLY snuggly. Like, don’t like to be more than 3 feet away from eachother snuggly.

I’m totally into Mr. FF’s hugs, too! They’re the best. :) I’m not a huge fan of major PDA, but I’m down with holding hands and I’m not above sneaking a quick peck when nobody’s around in the frozen food aisle.

Ha. I’ve never used a nickname for any bf before the hubby. I always felt funny if I didn’t call them by name. With hubby he rarely gets called his actual name!

OMG, you are me. I hate hate HATE hugging friends (and even some family members) it’s just so… awkward! But there’s nothing I love more than snuggling/hugging/kissing Mr. Rainbow, yes, ever in public. I am certainly one half of a mushy, gushy, pda filled couple.

SAME for me! My personal affection really really really sucks. Hugging makes me SUPER nervous. I rarely even hug my parents. Mr. S gives the best hugs (and everything else!), so he’s taught me how to be better at affection.

Some of my anti-hugging eeeek-ness comes from some delightful PTSD that we won’t go into here. :p

But yes, I was/am a huge PDA gagger… even though I do it now!

Yes, totally!! Before I met my fiance, when I was on match.com I put PDA as one of my turnoffs. I hated it. …and I hated it in all of my previous relationships. But something about my fiance totally changed that for me, and now we are always that couple who cuddles together in public and can’t keep our hands off of each other. I’m such a hypocrite.

It’s funny - I’m the exact same way! I only do the hug/kiss on the cheek thing if the other person initiates it. It’s just not something I’m very comfortable with. However, it’s totally diff with my fiance - I’ll hug/kiss him wherever we are! Hugging anyone else (including my parents) is still incredibly awkward for me though. ;-)

Aw, I hug everyone! I hug a lot of people when I meet them (not in a professional setting, though). I’m just a huggy person!!

@Miss French Fries: Haha! Mr. Buttons and I were in the grocery store the other day, holding hands, and an old couple came up to us and started to tell us their love story, and wanted to know all about our wedding, since we were so cute and “in love.” I wanted to cry…it was precious…

@Miss Scissors: I get super twitchy when I think about hugging people that aren’t my mom/dad/Mr. Buttons…

When I met Mr. Mojito, I was definitely not into PDA…I am much more comfortable b/c he is just so sweet. Now that said, I am not going to engage in a full on makeout session or anything, but holding hands..brief quick kiss-that’s progress for me!! :-)

I come from a long line of huggers, so that doesn’t bother me one bit! I get at least 3 bear hugs from Mr. Chicken Wing.

I do want to know, if it’s not too personal, what nickname do y’all use for your SO? Since I won’t ask without telling mine, it’s usually always “Babe” or the ever-embarassing “Love Biscuit” on occasion. (He calls me Chicken Wing. Hence the name!) LOL!
