To say that Mr. French Fries and I are “animal people” is a bit of an understatement. To illustrate this point, this was the picture featured on our holiday card this year:

(Shout out to French Fry Dad for taking this picture.
Getting the cat to look at the camera was like nailing Jell-O to the wall.)
Maybe I should explain how we got to the point where the animals in our household outnumber the humans! You see, before I met Mr. FF, I was living the single-girl life with the requisite downtown apartment, complete with a cat.
I adopted her shortly after I moved out on my own, and she’s a mix of Maine Coon and possibly dog, since she runs to greet me when I get home. Here’s my (first) fur-baby, Cosmo:

Then, I met Mr. French Fries, and subsequently, met his dog Rummy. He’s a 5-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, but I’m not so sure about the “miniature” part since he’s so tall and outweighs any other mini schnauzers we’ve seen.

After getting engaged (and moving in together) I started asking Mr. FF if we could get another dog. You see, Cosmo and Rummy adapted pretty well to living with each other, so I figured adding another animal to the mix would be another easy transition. We both l-o-v-e animals, so Mr. FF was open to the idea. After a few months of looking for dogs, we got our Shetland Sheepdog, Braeden. (He looks a little nutty here… and I’ll admit that he’s sort of like a 13-year-old hopped up on Starbucks triple lattes, but he’s the most loving dog ever.)

Now that I’ve acted like a grandmother showing off pictures of her grandkids in her brag book, I’ll get to the point of this post: our cake. Uh… whaaaa? Well, you see… while we’d love to incorporate our animals into our ceremony or reception in some way, our venues aren’t exactly amenable to our four-legged friends. We’ll most likely be taking our dogs with us for our engagement pictures (Cosmo will happily sit that one out – she’s not one for travel), but we want to feature them in some other way, too.
I happened to be looking through my Etsy favorites, and found an item that I had favorited after checking out Miss Rainbow’s post on cake toppers. I clicked back to my favorite cake topper collection of all time, by the fabulous Lollipop Workshop. They seriously ooze cute. I mean, how can you resist this?

You can’t. Or, at least I can’t. I showed it to Mr. FF and even he admitted that it was (and I quote): “Pretty cool.” That’s a groom thumbs up if I’ve ever heard one! Lollipop Workshop is currently closed for the holidays/New Year, but I’m hoping that they’ll be re-opening soon. Why? Because I found the perfect way to showcase our fur-babies, cake-topper style:

It’s so cute, and the dog is too perfect for us! With a little customization (and two more animals), it would be perfect!
