After-Partying It Up, Swank Style

January 7th, 2010 @ 11:37 am by Mrs. Hamster

One of my favorite celeb pics is that of Hilary Swank in an evening gown, digging into a burger with an Oscar (for her awesome performance in Boys Don’t Cry) by her side. I love Hilary! I love burgers! And playing dress up? Even better!

When it came time to think about the Hammy after party, I was at a bit of a loss.

You see, the Mister and I aren’t huge party people, but stuffing our faces? Sign us up! Yeeaaah, we’re the people that hover around the hors d’oeuvres tables and kitchen entrances at parties. That’s when Hilary’s late-night celebratory burger-trip came to mind. Just a mere three blocks from our venue is a late-night burger joint that serves some serious sliders.

The thought of traipsing down 5th Avenue in my wedding gown with my friends and bridal party, to pop in for some burgers, sounds like a ton of fun for me. And just think of the pics! While I won’t have an Oscar by my side, I’ll have a Mr. Hammy, and I *guess* that’s almost as good. ;)

What are your after party plans?

Oooh, that sounds perfect! It reminds me of that How I Met Your Mother where Marshall and Lily get married. They don’t get a chance to eat anything at the reception, so they go eat hot dogs afterwards in their wedding get-ups. :)

I love after-parties - there is nothing like a burrito in a late-night restaurant after a night out!

Oh, I love that pic of the burger joint…would be a cute place for engagement photos.

Anyhoo, we’re thinking about partnering up with a local bar to split the cost of our favorite local band and taking the party over there after the reception.

I’m sure we’ll be partying it up at the resort, although I’ve been told of a nearby bar with karaoke. I would totally keep my dress on for that!

That sounds awesome — and you’re right, it will make for awesome pictures! Burgers after the wedding is a great idea. Will have to talk Mr. FF into it (and by “talk” I mean mention it in passing, b/c he’ll totally be on board).

I love the idea. We’re actually going to have “gourmet mini-burgers” aka sliders at our reception.

After party? Pshaw. One party is enough for us! ;)

I think it sounds like a totally fun idea for someone else’s wedding, though. ;)

1) Burgers = good any time. I love this idea, if we weren’t getting married in the middle of no where I would TOTALLY steal it. :)

2) I think that picture is after Hilary’s win for Million Dollar Baby, not Boys Don’t Cry. I remember because she wore a backless dress to show off her back muscles. Yes, I am a weird movie freak. haha

Mmmmmm. As for after party, I think we’ll all just go back to the hotel and hang out until I crash. :p
