Getting Ready for Getting Ready

January 7th, 2010 @ 10:11 am by Mrs. Pug

I think one of the most special parts of the wedding day (yes yes, every part is special but I mean, um, super special) is the bride getting ready. There is something so serene, magical and blissful about the photos, except under the cover of serenity is that amazing sense of excitement building up—the kind of butterflies you feel when your loved one is about to step off a plane from a long trip away, when you were a kid waiting for your birthday… those kind of nervous, fun jitters.

Getting ready is a time to get prettied up, to put on your best face:

Is it too confusing to be getting butterflies about getting butterflies on the wedding day? Because sometimes I kinda do.

I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to this part of the day. I will be with my mom, my sister, my best friend, with other girlfriends dropping by, a glass of bubbly in hand, trying to enjoy the moment and getting ready for the big day ahead.

Watch, I’ll be in hives, people will be screaming, the seating chart won’t be done, and the room will spontaneously ignite in flames.

Is there any particular part of the day that you are looking forward to (and don’t give me that mumbo jumbo about the moment you are married… yes, we are all looking forward to that)?

Besides all the obvious moments, I’m totally looking forward to spending the night before the wedding with my mom and sis in the super sweet suite :)

I know exactly what you are saying! I am so excited to just relax, let the magic flow, and get ready with my extra special girls. I am also super excited for the excitement of throwing the bouquet. I just love the energy that comes out of it.

I’m also excited about the “getting ready” part — we’re going to be in a gigantic suite (hopefully) and I want my fave tunes on my iPod, a mimosa, and lots of laughing.

i’m way too excited about getting ready. it will be me, my mom, my sister (MOH), my aunt, my grandma, 5 bridesmaids, a hairstylist and a makeup artist all hanging out in a big suite. i’m hoping for a peaceful girly start to an exciting day!

I have no idea what to do for the “getting ready” part! I think we’ll be at the church. :( (booo on crappy bride’s room) and I guess the photographer will be there?

There will be no screaming or fiery disasters! There will only be squealing (of glee), and the only disaster to anticipate is running out of bubbly!

this is EXACTLY the moment I look forward to most pre-wedding ceremony too! There’s nothing like a bride stepping into her dress, with her fam and girlies all around her. i’m also pretty fantastically excited to enjoy this moment with some champagne!

Yes, these shots are a must for me too. Although my mom was just saying the other day that there are going to be a TON of people in the room… oh well, that’s what I want!

@Miss Hamster: ladies’ sleepover in a pimped out room–yipee!
@Miss Trail Mix: @Miss French Fries: @marlie: @EAQ219: @Miss Pencils: @Miss Frozen Yogurt: i know, i’m getting all giddy just thinking about it!
@Miss Cheeseburger: @tea: it’s funny that it’s probably going to be chaotic, but i want those serene, calm photos, dammit!
@Miss Spaniel: carving out time for a nice breakfast will be key
@Miss Nachos: that is so sweet. i remember champagne’s recent pics of this, and i just puddled with sentimentality
@Ms. Library: that’s definitely an exciting moment. just don’t hit anyone in the eye with it.
@Miss Scissors: crazy or serene, it’ll be so exciting!
@Mrs. Quiche: ah, that sounds super nice, hope mine lives up to that!
@Miss Guinea Pig: it’s infectious. in a good way.
@Mrs. Dee to Bee: wherever you get ready will be special because you’ll be getting all prettified with your loved ones. don’t worry about the decor!

I’m excited for this too although I don’t think I’ll look as graceful as all of the beautiful brides in those photos. I’m also excited for my older brother to see me once I’m all ready since he’s going to walk me down the aisle. :)

I actually had a great time getting ready with my gals. It was a pretty low key morning at my sister’s house, but it was fun to be with all the important ladies in my life. We chilled, drank coffee and ate cinnamon rolls and it was great!
