Mrs. Cheeseburger's Picture
Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PA Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Engagement Date: June 28, 2008 Wedding Date: March 2010 Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel Reception About Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
About Mrs. Cheeseburger

I’ve already mentioned how cold it’s likely to be on our wedding day. Sure, it might be nice, but the chances are pretty high that it won’t be. :) You all know about my ideas for cold or rainy weather prophylaxis, and you gave some great feedback on the coats, especially!

I finally pulled the trigger and purchased this coat. It’s too adorable, and I’ve had trouble waiting to wear it ’til after the wedding. Here, check it out:

I love the buttons and ruffles on the sleeves! Whimsical :)

And where did this inspiration in wool originate from? This spread in Modern Bride:

Gorgeous! And that flower - amazing! I had to have it. So, I put on my thinking cap and started wondering if I could up the bridal factor of my coat, if only temporarily for the day.

After a quick stop at Jo-Ann’s, two pieces of ivory felt and some pearl beads later, I had this:

A super easy DIY felt flower that (pretty much) matches my coat!

Here’s a shot of the flower on the coat collar. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet, since the coat already has a lot going on in the way of ruffles and buttons. In general, I still love the idea, and every time I look at the modern bride picture, I die a little out of happiness. :)

What do you think - flower or brooch?

Also, is anyone interested in another fabric flower tutorial? I know there have been a bunch so far: Poodle’s, Moonbeam’s, Pretzel’s, and Doxie’s just to name a few, but if you want it, you’ve got it!

I think the broach will look better since like you said, the coat has a lot going on with ruffles and buttons, etc but honestly, I like either of them and that coat is TOO. DAMN. CUTE! I want it just for general use!

Love the coat! I think you should wear the broach! It would look so fantastic - but the flower is super cute, too!

I think the brooch has a better feel to it than the flower..to be honest there may be too much going on with the flower.

I heart the flower a LOT. But I would put it on the other side of the collar so it isn’t directly competing with the ruffles. Win win!

i looove the flower! for an every day look but the broach for a more upscale or elegant look. Both look wonderful though.

I am not good at making decisions like this. Can you switch it up? flower for some photos, broach for others?!?!

I don’t think you could go wrong with either choice. I think you should go with the mood of your dress. The brooch is more elegant while the flower is more fun. I personally like the brooche because I like elegant.
