I love wine, cooking, curling up with a good book (nerd alert!), spoiling the furbaby, and of course, the wonderful Mr. Buttons! We are planning a lighthearted and whimsical wedding (with a good deal of DIY projects) in Clearwater, Florida, but from a distance of 800 miles away! We are looking forward to sharing our day with our family and friends, and most importantly, starting our lives together as husband and wife!
About Mrs. Buttons

Let’s Take a Tour…

January 8th, 2010 @ 1:31 pm by Mrs. Buttons

After an exhausting search for our venue, I was pleased as punch to have our names penned in Carlouel’s calendar for our wedding date! So… would you like a tour? Follow me, please…

Guests will drive up to the front entrance, and the valet will park their car (unless of course, they are traveling via limo or other transportation!).

As guests enter the front door, they walk into this entryway…

The couches will be removed. I’m imagining some white pillar candles on the mantle of the fireplace on the left, and our guestbook will be displayed on a circular table in the center of the room

Turn to the left, and you will enter the room where the ceremony will take place…

… in front of this beautiful stone fireplace (ignore the tables, it will be set up with rows of chairs for the ceremony)…

Don’t you love the cute light fixtures?

I will admit, I am a bit disappointed that there isn’t a mantle on the fireplace…I was hoping to set up an array of different sized white pillar candles on a mantle in lieu of flowers, but now it looks like we’re going to have to be creative with the décor!

Since we are having our ceremony indoors, after it is over, our guests will move outdoors by the pool for the cocktail hour! Carlouel is right on the water in Clearwater, so everyone will have a fabulous view of the ocean, boats, etc. as the sun begins to set!

Guests can stand on the lawn, or sit at a table by the pool, while hors d’oeuvres and drinks are served.

I love the idea of some photo ops with the bridal party/family on one of the boat slips… if only we had a boat to go with it!

After an hour of munching on appetizers, our wedding guests will walk back into the main room for the reception!

During the cocktail hour, the staff at Carlouel will flip the room where the ceremony was held and turn it into a beautiful reception site! Where the chairs are for the ceremony, tables of 8-10 will be assembled.

Some tables will run into the next room, which has a hardwood floor…perfect for dancing (note: the floor will be clear, unlike in the pictures here)!

Carlouel will set up the tasting stations for dinner in an adjoining room, so the serving equipment, stations, etc. won’t be eyesores in the middle of the reception.

Directly across from the entrance to Carlouel is their private beach that you access by this boardwalk…

I don’t know how we will incorporate the beach in some aspect of the day… perhaps for a send off with sparklers?

Ohmigosh, there are very few reception locations that I’m jealous of but yours is totally one of them! I love how light and clean everything feels, and it’s right on the water!!! So beautiful…

LOVE your venue. Also, I’m obsessed with that amazing fireplace.

I’m so jealous you get a pretty ocean and a pretty boardwalk and a pretty beach. I get a river that is best known for CATCHING FIRE (twice) because it was so dirty. Not to make you feel bad or anything lol.

@ablet: @Ms. Snuggie: @luli29: @suzanne1880: Thank you! I’m in love as well…haha!

@Miss Snow: @Miss Pencils: I consider my venue one with an identity crisis…it doesn’t know if it wants to be a yacht club, a beach, or a lodge! Its a little bit of everything…

@Miss Trail Mix: You are so sweet… :) I’m really hoping that the weather is beautiful so we can take advantage of the location in its fullest….

@EAQ219: Ahhh burning river?!?! Your blog name makes so much sense now! I guess that wouldn’t be the most beautiful of backdrops???

@Blueshoes2: Seriously, the private beach is clutch…no random tourists with their beer bellies and hawaiian shirts to awkwardly be in the background of our photos!

Looks beautiful! Our ceremony will be indoors as well, cocktail hour outside while the indoors is re-set and the reception indoors afterwards! Still trying to work out the exact flow of work but I’m sure it’ll work out for both of us.

I am drooling over your venue! I love the walkway and cane think of sooo many pictures to take there! Plus it’s Florida, which sounds pretty darn awesome to a girl from Maine right now!

What a gorgeous place! If I may make a suggestion or two:

1. You can build a pretty white mantle yourself. It can be in a really tall table shape. Then adorn that!

2. Have you seen any pictures of candles set up in a fireplace? I have attached some ideas for you to look at. That is a really easy way to dress up a fireplace.
