Mrs. Martini's Picture
Mrs. Martini, New Jersey Age and Occupation: 30, Telecom by day, Superhero by night Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Investments & Finance by day, Hip hop dancer by night Engagement Date: May 24, 2008 Wedding Date: March, 2009 Blogging Since: August 18, 2008 Venue: The Venetian About Me: Things that make me happy: Haribo Happy Cola gummies, TV shows on DVD, buying books although I never read them, 80’s rock ballads, ramen, and of course Mr. Martini! He is the calm, logical and number crunching finance guy. I can’t even multiply double digit numbers in my head and I am so indecisive that trying to choose between light green or slightly lighter green paper stresses me out (Wedding planning is going to be soooo much fun). We both find great joy in nabbing great seats at the movie theater for a blockbuster movie on opening weekend, and we are both absolutely crazy about snowboarding. And he loves to cook, I love to eat!
About Mrs. Martini

I admit that I cared a lot about certain details, but others, not so much. Our wedding cake was one of the details that I didn’t care much about. Our venue, The Venetian, includes a wedding cake in the cost of everything so we were happy with that. We really didn’t have a budget to get anything nicer, and I didn’t mind too much, although I admit that I’ve drooled more than once over pictures of colorful fondant cakes with silk ribbons. Besides, I was surprising Mr. Martini with a groom’s cake of a snowboard boot, which I was hoping would more than make up for it.

Our snowboard boot groom’s cake. Mr. Martini loved that there was a snowboard boot sitting next to our wedding cake.

This is the only picture I have of our table set up that includes our table name, picture and centerpiece, taken by a friend. I was extremely happy with the way our trail sign table names came out, and a lot of people commented on how much they loved the idea. Our centerpieces were simple, but I was shocked at how nice they looked when I saw them. Our florist placed about 7 tealight candles on the table around the centerpiece, which illuminated the orchids in the vase.

For the reception, I changed up my dress a bit by adding a purple sash that matched the color of my bridesmaids’ dresses. I couldn’t decide whether to go for a sash or not, until Weddingbee readers convinced me to go “no sash” for the ceremony, and “yes sash” for the reception. The sash I mentioned here was purchased before the BM dresses were picked out and didn’t match, so I actually had to buy another one. But I’m glad I did, because the purple sash made my dress fun for the reception and I loved wearing it, so thank you for your advice!

And now, the party begins!

Speaking of our photographers, before Mr. Martini and I hired Cly Creations to be our photographers for our wedding, I subscribed to their blog. We were extremely happy with our pictures and don’t regret our choice for a second. Even though our wedding was months ago, I never got around to unsubscribing from their blog, and instead I still enjoy seeing their updates and the pictures they shoot for others. So that’s the only reason I saw their entry the other day about their search for a unique wedding. They are offering free photography for the most unique wedding! I thought I’d extend the post here just in case you were planning a creative wedding and might be interested in something like this.

I can’t wait to see what wedding they will choose and shoot!

Our wedding so far:

1. Putting our faces on
2.
At The Venue, and the Case of the Missing Groomsman
3. The Details

4. Our First Moment
5. Wedding Party Portrait
6. Married to my Indiana

I love the Venetian, but I would be skeptical to do a wedding there just because my hopefully FH’s family members have gotten married there, but it is a beautiful place. I love your pictures so beautiful!! Congrats!

Aw, all of the pics are so pretty! I love the purple sash, my friend that got married not too long ago wore a dress very similar to yours and had a brown sash with hers. Can’t wait to see more!

What a cool snowboard shoe cake. Also, I love that you decided to change up your dress with a sash for the reception. It’s kind of like being a two-dress bride, but easier! :)

Aw, I like the way your cake turned out! But the snowboard boot is awesome. And hooray for colored sashes! I think I’m actually going to do the same thing, except have an ivory sash for the ceremony and switch it out to blue for the reception! I think your purple one looked fantastic with your dress!
