I admit that I cared a lot about certain details, but others, not so much. Our wedding cake was one of the details that I didn’t care much about. Our venue, The Venetian, includes a wedding cake in the cost of everything so we were happy with that. We really didn’t have a budget to get anything nicer, and I didn’t mind too much, although I admit that I’ve drooled more than once over pictures of colorful fondant cakes with silk ribbons. Besides, I was surprising Mr. Martini with a groom’s cake of a snowboard boot, which I was hoping would more than make up for it.

Our snowboard boot groom’s cake. Mr. Martini loved that there was a snowboard boot sitting next to our wedding cake.

This is the only picture I have of our table set up that includes our table name, picture and centerpiece, taken by a friend. I was extremely happy with the way our trail sign table names came out, and a lot of people commented on how much they loved the idea. Our centerpieces were simple, but I was shocked at how nice they looked when I saw them. Our florist placed about 7 tealight candles on the table around the centerpiece, which illuminated the orchids in the vase.

For the reception, I changed up my dress a bit by adding a purple sash that matched the color of my bridesmaids’ dresses. I couldn’t decide whether to go for a sash or not, until Weddingbee readers convinced me to go “no sash” for the ceremony, and “yes sash” for the reception. The sash I mentioned here was purchased before the BM dresses were picked out and didn’t match, so I actually had to buy another one. But I’m glad I did, because the purple sash made my dress fun for the reception and I loved wearing it, so thank you for your advice!

Husband and wife! Can my smile be any cheesier?

And now, the party begins!
Speaking of our photographers, before Mr. Martini and I hired Cly Creations to be our photographers for our wedding, I subscribed to their blog. We were extremely happy with our pictures and don’t regret our choice for a second. Even though our wedding was months ago, I never got around to unsubscribing from their blog, and instead I still enjoy seeing their updates and the pictures they shoot for others. So that’s the only reason I saw their entry the other day about their search for a unique wedding. They are offering free photography for the most unique wedding! I thought I’d extend the post here just in case you were planning a creative wedding and might be interested in something like this.
I can’t wait to see what wedding they will choose and shoot!
