About Mrs. Buttons

Photography Love…

January 8th, 2010 @ 9:50 am by Mrs. Buttons

After Mr. Buttons proposed, the first thing on my to-do list was to find a photographer. And attempting to do that can be an absolutely daunting task, to say the least! I scoured the Internet for DAYS, trying not to go cross-eyed or to pull my hair out due to the overwhelming amount of information I came across! One thing I WAS sure about however, is that I wanted to find a photojournalist to document the day. Of course, some posed pictures are necessary, but I wanted to find someone who was able to capture the candid, natural moments that will transpire on our wedding day.

After spending the better half of my day scrolling through photos, I randomly sent out a Tweet about what I was up to. And, a short time later, I received a response from Pilster Photography, with a link to their site. I was intrigued, and began to sift through. And I was hooked, not only by the photos, but by what is included in their packages (UNLIMITED time on the day of the wedding, how cool is that?) and how well I clicked with Chad. And, for now, I’ll just let some of the photos speak for themselves…

All photos are from Pilster Photography’s site and/or blog.

I did lots of internet stalking and narrowed it down to 3 photogs to interview (I figured that’s all FH would be able to handle). I had actually found THE photographer at a wedding show, but wanted to do my “due diligence” and interview others. Just to make sure. And we ended up going with my #1 pick. Yay!

Oh wow! I love their stuff.
It took us almost 4 months and lots & lots of websites & blogs before finding & meeting our dream photographer. Like you it was THE first thing we searched for. Even before a venue.

It took us awhile - almost two months. We were looking for a photojournalistic style as well, but it was hard to find someone that offered a lot or unlimited hours that fit into our budget. Similar to our venue search, we used a color-coded spreadsheet to compare. We finally book earlier this week and am so excited to have that checked off! Photography is really important to me and I didn’t want to compromise, but I also didn’t want to sign a contract that meant we would have to give up eating for a month. :)

Ha! For some reason I think it’s hilarious/awesome that Twitter helped you find your photographer! Twitter has helped me with wedding stuff numerous times :) And you made a great find, too - love these photos!

Those are great — I love them! We’ve found someone we really like but I want to keep looking, especially since we have some time to spare.

It might seem silly but a looked at websites for a few days and fell in love with our photographer online.

We knew we liked his work right away. My FH and I met with him and after talking for almost 4 hours over coffee we were completely smitten! In fact, he is the only one we met with and one of the easiest decisions we’ve made yet!

I’ve been wondering who you were using for photography…I’m getting married next month in Lakeland (same place as Mrs. Coconut!) and I’m very excited about my photographer. He is an up-and-coming photography student who has done a few weddings, but I love his style. he did our engagement pictures last month in Orlando and they came out wonderful. Best of Luck!
