Mrs. Cola, Mountain View, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Product Communications and Promotions Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Managing Partner and Senior Designer Engagement Date: March 5, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: The Mountain Terrace, Woodside, CA About Me: I’m a Washington State native, enjoying life in Silicon Valley California with my fiancé, our three kitties and one leopard gecko. I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.

Ring-spiration!

January 8th, 2010 @ 11:10 am by Mrs. Cola

At the end of this month Mr. Cola and I will be going back to the same jeweler that he purchased my engagement ring from to pick out our wedding bands! So naturally I’ve been browsing online for styles that might go with my three stone e-ring.

As a reminder, here is what my ring looks like… I’m not 100% sure what style of wedding band is going to go with it!

Ring-spiration! : wedding rings Bimg 1902

(These three above are personal photos. My ring is a Verragio ENG-0283 in platinum)

I’m reluctant to cover the side view of my ring, since that’s what made me love it so much in the first place, but I’m not sure there’s much of a way around it. I do know that Verragio will make custom wedding bands if the e-ring isn’t part of a set, so I’m hoping maybe something already exists, but I’m having trouble envisioning what it would look like. How can I not cover the ’V’ shape on the side? A band that follows the same curves seems like it might look odd worn by itself, and I definitely want to have that option.

So if something that matches exactly isn’t an option, I’ve been looking at other alternatives online. Verragio’s website doesn’t have much in the way of stand-alone bands, but my second favorite ring designer, Tacori, does. To me they have a similar look and feel, so I’m hoping I’ll find similar designs from Verragio when I go visit the jewelry store.

Probably the easiest and most budget-friendly option would be a pave-only band, but with pave diamonds on the sides, so I would at least still have a pretty side view:

That would be nice, but… I’m really more drawn to ones with a little more bling, like both of these (although with princess cut diamonds on the first one below).

{Style #2629SQB}

Although, I’m still not 100% sure how those two would look with my e-ring. I definitely don’t want to overpower it!

And then there are a couple of other bands I really like for their uniqueness, however they really don’t seem like they’d go with my e-ring at all. But I’ll share anyway, ’cause I love looking at more bling!

Of course, Mr. Cola and I haven’t discussed our wedding band budget yet, so that will help narrow it down some, but check out the great band style we found for him. It’s only $99.99 online! (Could his budget savings = my budget gain ;) ???)

Ring-spiration! : wedding rings Tungste02

{BOMANI Tungsten Carbide Carbon Fiber Ring}

Mr. Cola definitely needs a tough Tungsten ring, since when he’s not writing programming code, he’s soldering, laser cutting and doing other hands-on projects in the workshop. And he likes that this one has carbon fiber on it, “’cause it sounds cool.” I like that it’s not a plain band; it’s a little unique and different, and not as flashy as some (Mr. C has never worn any jewelry before, so wearing a ring will take some getting used to).

I can’t wait to go ring shopping in a few weeks, and I’ll definitely let you all know how it goes!

Did your engagement ring come as a set, or did you have to search around for your wedding band? Got any suggestions for a band that will go with my e-ring?

I love the one that looks like it’s braided! So unique!

I love the braided one too… it’s so gorgeous! (As is your ring!)

My ring didn’t come as a set, because it’s not technically a engagement ring. We have to figure out something for it. :p

I really like the first one you posted, the less-bling one, and I agree with the other comments that the braided one is really neat as well.

My engagement ring came in a set from Kay’s. The wedding band has a row of small diamonds at the top .. they don’t go all the way around the band.

My fiance’s wedding band is tungsten carbide as well. He is in contruction so an indestructible/unscratchable ring seemed like the best option. And the tungston rings do have cool designs as well (like your fiance’s). My fiance’s is a dark grey color with a Celtic love knot going around the band.

My FI was smart enough to pick something with a matching band so no worries in that department. I really like the braided band as well. I sent the link for you FI band to mine and asked him what he thinks since I would love to see that ring on him :)

I have the Tacori Style #2578B that you posted for my engagement ring (with a stone, of course!), but only a half eternity band and the matching band, half eternity didn’t line up. I didn’t want to cover the sides of it, because I loved it! But, I found a band that was simple and had the same side view as my engagement ring. I bet you can find or have something made just like that!

maybe just a very simple wedding band, so your gorgeous e-ring is the spotlight?

Wow, that looks like it’s gonna be a tough one, I wouldn’t want to cover up the side diamonds either. I’m surious to see what you end up picking!

So pretty.

I ended up with a wrap/enhancer/guard whatever they are called because I didn’t want to hide the sides of my ring either. The band is low-profile but still has teeny diamonds so it doesn’t hide the details I love about the ring and sparkles more.

I wasn’t really open to the idea of a wrap until I saw it with my ring. You might try it, just in case.

Luckily, mine has a matching band - we didn’t buy them together because that was WAY out of our budget at the time. But, our jeweler was having an anniversary special, and I received a coupon for 22% off - so I ran in and bought my band. Yay discount!

My ring is a Tacori, so I did have a band that matched my e-ring. Either way you go, I don’t think you can go wrong because both companies have gorgeous rings!

love them all! but that first one looks just like the band I am getting (matched my e-ring band to a T) so I am biased for that one. It does sparkle from every angle!

I relaly like the second to last one, but if I were you I might consider wearing it on another finger…your ring is so stunning on it’s own!

I had the same concerns because my ring also has awesome sides, but remember that unless you are planning to get two rings, ONE side will still be exposed, and its the side most other people will see when looking at your hand! (Assuming you wear your wedding band on the inside.) Think of how you hold out your hand to someone to show them your ring. Of course, YOu tend to look at your ring from the other direction (at least I do), but I can still see most of the side work on my e-ring, and the wedding band side work complements it well.

I vote matching (or custom made to match) for a super-detailed ring like this, because a non matched one will rarely look “just so”.

Yay for Tacori! I just love how intricate the rings are. I know that tungsten is very popular these days, but my fiance read somewhere that it’s hard to cut them off in the emergency room. I have no idea why this is a concern of his, but it is. So now he insists on a platinum band. Gotta love him!

Tungsten cannot be CUT off, but it can be CRACKED off fairly easily with a special vise that most ambulances and all emergency rooms should carry. Does not damage the finger to crack it off.

With a ring as unique as yours, I’d say switch it over to your right hand and go for a subtle (but still sparkly!) standalone band on your left. I’m interested to see what you choose!

We just went ring shopping the other day. There is a matching band for my e-ring and I wanted to see it. Unfortunately they didn’t have it in stock, but the one was similar I loved. It would be like hte pave only band in your post. I might want diamonds on the sides too if we can afford it. My fiance is in a tough position. He loves the tungsten and titanium rings, but he is a firefighter, so he needs something that can be cut if God forbid something happens at work. We found another one he liked, but it was $1600!!!!
