Let’s Polka!

I have yet to sit down and plan the music that will be played at the Pudding wedding. I have no idea what tune will accompany our first dance or what song I will listen to while I walk down the aisle.

I do know one thing, though. Our reception will have a very special guest performer:

Meet Mr. Pudding’s grandfather, aka The Polka King.

I’m not sure if I have mentioned this before, but Mr. P is 1/4 Polish, and that 1/4 comes from his maternal grandfather. Mr. P’s grandfather is very patriotic, and did his best to instill Polish traditions in his family. Let’s just say that Mr. Pudding earned major brownie points when he announced his intentions to marry a true flesh and blood “Polka”*.

Mr. Pudding’s grandfather is a Polka playing machine. He plays the accordion at all family functions, and our wedding will be no exception. Even though Mr. Pudding’s Polka dancing skills are a little spastic, and my feet will no doubt get trampled, I can’t wait for our first (but certainly not last) Polka as husband and wife!

* The word “Polka” actually means “Polish girl”

How fun that you’re going to have Mr. P’s grandpa and his polka playing at your reception! We didn’t have any family members perform at our wedding, but that would be so fun!

That’s so cool! And he is adorable! We’re getting my sister to do a lot of the artwork for the wedding, so she’s part of the overall “performance” but in an earlier sense.

My younger sister plays the guitar and she’s also my MOH. I’m trying to incorporate her playing into the wedding somehow. That’s great that he’s going to perform for you!!

I was just at a wedding where everyone was up and dancing to the polka! It was hilarious! I’m sure it will be a great time at your wedding!

@Jessie516: It’s going to be a ball! The polka is a very fun and upbeat dance- you pretty much have to enjoy yourself!

@Ms. Library: That’s such a good idea! I’ve been thinking of ways to incorporate SIL Pudding’s artwork as well….how are you doing it?

@Miss Pug: The great thing is that my mom used to play in high school as well….I’m hoping that she might be persuaded to share some of her skills, too
