Hello hive! Don’t you all look beautiful today?!

I’d like to tell you what an honor it is to be here. I’d love to let you know how much inspiration, laughs, and butterflies you all have given me through the boards and blogs - but right now I can only do this…

Hands shaking, I tried typing my response to the good news while simultaneously calling my fiance, Mr. Sewing, at work. He was happy for me, if only for the fact that it meant we were going out for dinner that night. (We ate pho, one of our favorite foods!)

So who are these sewing-people? Well, we’re two practical engineers who love videogames, anime, sci-fi, ’80s music and all other things of the nerdy persuasion…

Mr. Sewing grew up smack dab in the middle of Oahu, while I grew up next to a lettuce patch in Salinas, California. Mr. Sewing left paradise for college, and we met at our central California alma mater before moving out to the San Francisco Bay Area for work. We live on the San Francisco Peninsula, and each morning we walk to the train station outside our home to our separate commutes - Mr. Sewing to Silicon Valley, and me to San Francisco (I think he got the short end of the stick). At any given moment you can find us in front of computers, in the library, exploring museums, or just plain couch-potatoing. Now, after six years of dating, Mr. Sewing decided to propose - so we’ll be advancing to the next chapter of our love story in July!

And really, I probably don’t need to explain why we settled on Hawaii for our location. If you’re going to marry an island boy, you better cash in on the benefits.

So while we love a good many things, what we enjoy most of all is a good challenge - whether it involves math, art design, or the latest wedding DIY feat! And while we love technology, we also love each other, you see. (But we still love technology, for all you Napoleon Dynamite buffs!)

I hope you’ll join us as we oscillate between successes and failures, all across the wedding universe! (And don’t forget to dust off that sewing machine, it’s about to get pretty busy!)
