About Mrs. Cheeseburger

Ms. Poodle did an amazing tutorial on how to make clay roses. While I followed instructions in this book, the process is really similar, and I think the results are, too:

I think the smaller filler flowers make just as big of a statement as the roses do. I was planning on doing a tutorial for the fillers, but I realized that it’s pretty difficult to photograph yourself when you need both hands to make the flowers! Plus, it’s easier to learn from a video than from photos anyway!

Diane of DK Designs (who made Mrs. Pineapples gorgeous flowers!) did a clay flower demonstration on Martha awhile back, and the video is here for your viewing pleasure (the original video is from Martha’s site)!

While Diane is demonstrating hydrangea construction in this video, the technique is the same for the smaller flowers (just vary the amount of clay you start with, and occasionally the number of cuts that you make). If after watching the video you still have questions, I’d love to try to answer them for you.

Good luck on your clay flower adventures!

Your flowers are so pretty! I wish I had time for adding this to my DIY list, but I think I’ll stick with the arranging of real flowers instead.

Wow well done! I’m pretty sure any clay flowers I tried to make would in the end still look like giant blobs of playdoh… Yours are amazing! I love the filler flowers too :)

Those turned out so good! And I agree, the filler flowers are just as important as the big flowers.
