When it comes to wedding planning, I'm excited about working on DIY projects and finding creative ways to stay under budget. Of course, nothing is more exciting to me than knowing that the wonderful Mr. Deviled Egg will be my husband.
About Mrs. Deviled Egg

We woke up on Day 5 of our cruise knowing that this was it––the last day on board and the last full day of our honeymoon. Day 5 was a scheduled “Fun Day at Sea”, which is a poor PR spin on a day spent traveling without any port stops. We were on our way to Ft. Lauderdale from Belize and there would be no time for anything but cruising.

For our fun day, we decided to sleep in. We had both checked the Cruise Compass, the newsletter delivered daily to each cabin that outlines all the important information and lists the day’s schedule of events, and decided there were some things we wanted to do together and some things we wanted to do on our own. Yes, we spent time apart on our honeymoon. It was only about 2 hours, though.

Mr. DE wanted to hit the fitness center and work out. The activity on the itinerary that caught my eye was scrapbooking. We agreed to meet up for lunch, did a quick kiss goodbye and were on our own separate ways.

The scrapbooking session was a bit of a disappointment, although maybe my expectations were a little high for a cruise ship activity? There were neon papers, plain-paper die cuts in beach shapes, glue sticks, markers and decorative edge scissors. I began to make the most of what I was given.

I forgot to tell you there were letter stencils. Jealous?

And here is what I ended up with:

Not my best by far, but not bad considering my resources. And I never did get around to adding a picture to my page. Regardless of what this scrapbook session became, I appreciated the creative outlet. It helped to rejuvenate me. Deprive a creative girl of craft time for a week and she’ll get cranky!

After lunch, Mr. DE and I decided to join in on the fun at the ship’s Bingo game. I’m not gonna lie — I love Bingo!

We bought our cards and found a seat.

We didn’t win.

And Mr. DE took it pretty hard.

Kidding, of course! We had a great time.

After our bingo defeat, we decided to spend some time by the pool. Everyone else on the ship must have had the same idea. No biggie. There were plenty of loungers available in the shade. We who burn easily appreciate being shielded from the sun!

Soaking up the shade. :)

We left the pool for one last dinner with our table mates. The food and service did not disappoint. Over the course of the week, we felt completely pampered by our waitstaff. Following this last, delicious meal, all the staff performed a song routine for us and, though a little cheesy, it was enjoyable.

All the waiters heading to the front of the dining room to sing their song.

After dinner, we headed back to our cabin to pack up our things and get ready for the end of our cruise. We had to pack all but our carry-on bags and place them outside the door for collection and distribution to our land-based travel provider. I was a little nervous about setting our bags out for all to access, but the staff was efficient in getting them moved to where they needed to be quickly. Also, I think all of the passengers on the ship abide well by the honors system and The Golden Rule when it comes to others’ bags.

We spent our last evening checking out an encore performance of a comedian we missed on our first night on-board. He was hilarious! I wish I could remember who he was.

All in all, a Fun Day at Sea was, in fact, fun. It was nice to explore the ship a little more and to do things we were too busy to do earlier in the trip while we were off exploring the port cities. We were worried about being bored, but the day turned out to be just what we needed to help us unwind from the more strictly scheduled days we experienced earlier in the cruise.

The next morning, it was time to leave and head back to good old Western Pennsylvania. Our Honeymoon at Sea was, sadly, over, but the memories we made on the cruise will last a lifetime. Even before our trip was over, Mr. DE and I were already thinking about the next time we go cruising. We are hooked!

This concludes my “Honeymoon at Sea” recaps. If you have any questions about any part of our cruise, please let me know.

Miss something? Catch up!
