Mrs. Pretzel, Seattle Age and Occupation: 32 Learning, Training, and Development Specialist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28 Manufacturing Engineer Engagement Date: September 2, 2009 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Church & The Engine Room at Georgetown Studios About Me: I’m just a thirty-something girl who never dreamed of weddings, poofy dresses, or ritzy receptions. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married. Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.

Dressing the Dudes: Fully Vested

January 13th, 2010 @ 2:19 pm by Mrs. Pretzel

I was surprised by how much interest the Groomsmen/Ushers have taken in their attire. I think there was a universal sigh of relief when Mr. Pretzel told them that they would not be wearing tuxes.

Like Ms Potato Chips, Mr Pretzel and I have been eying a more casual look for Groom and Groomsmen’s attire. Mr Pretzel looked dashing in the vest and dress pants combo in the first part of our e-photo shoot so we decided to roll with that for our groomsmen.

Our color palette for the guys?

Grey + wedding colors as accents. While visiting Mr Pretzel’s family in Indiana over the holidays we hit groomsmen pay dirt. Kohls had a buy one get one free event for suit separates. Mr P, my FMIL, and I combed the racks and found the perfect vest/pant combo. We snatched up 4 sets for a price of 67.50 per groomsmen. *I did my “I found a bargain” dance*

Without further ado, here is how our groomsmen will become vested!

Not too shabby! Don’t forget about those custom Chuck Taylors in coordinating colors.

On the subject of colors, the third question out of our groomsmen’s/ushers’ mouths? What color am I? The Ushers had a hilarious conversation that I will recount in an upcoming post, but for the groomsmen, the conversation when like this.

Miss Pretzel to Groomsman Trumpet: You can wear pink, green, orange, or blue.

Groomsman Trumpet: I won’t wear pink—but orange sounds awesome.

Miss Pretzel to Best Man M: You can wear pink, green, or blue.

Best Man M: I won’t wear pink, I want orange

Miss Pretzel: Too bad so sad, your brother is wearing orange try again.

Best Man M: Blue then.

Miss Pretzel to Groomsmen V and B: One of you has to wear pink—if nobody volunteers I am flipping a coin.

Groomsman V: I’ll pony up, pink for me.

Ha! Boys are funny.

Are you going the more casual route? Did any of your groomsmen put up a stink about wedding colors?

I love that idea! Those are going to look amazing! Our guys actually asked if they could wear fuchsia (our accent color) so that they could rock the pink. But then again, they were happy enough with some light blue action too.

My fiance totally would have volunteered for pink. Hell, it might have even been his first choice. But he’s also quite the metrosexual and owns numerous pink shirts.

I really like that look! We haven’t decided for sure on what suits the guys will be wearing, but I like the way you narrowed down the color choices for them!

We’re doing three-piece suits (so they can take the jackets off for the reception and still look fly with their vests on) in a charcoal/grey.
Your color choices are super-fun!

Love this look! We’re also doing suits for all the guys. Charcoal grey with vests as well. Now just have to go suit shopping - hope it’s as easy as process as yours! :)

Totally makes me think of Reservoir Dogs. “Why do I have to be Mr. Pink?”

LOL, we are going with DB brown tuxes- to coordinate with the ladies’ dresses, unfortunately the guys will be wearing “Mermaid” vests and ties. Yeah, I got a hard time about that one, something about stripping them of their manhood (our best man).

We’re doing the same thing! Our guys will be sporting the Cotton Ludlow gray vests and pants from J. Crew:

Good job shopping…for the same price as renting a tux, you have outfits for the guys to keep!
