Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.

My Paper Flowers

January 13th, 2010 @ 4:28 pm by Mrs. Poodle

Remember this post? I showed you all how I packed all of the Kusudama flowers that my mom and sister helped me fold while I was still living in Chile.

Well, that little box transformed into this little bag a week before Curly and I came to California. I had to get rid of all the extra weight, including the box of the flowers! :P

As you can see, there are not only purple petals folded in that bag, but there are also tons of HOT pink ones. Why, you ask? Well, the last time I picked up the recycled paper I was using for the flowers, there was some rather mysterious lighting in the building, and I thought the pink paper was purple!

I still can’t believe how far from purple the paper ended up being! My mom didn’t even realize the difference in color until after I already cut all the tiny little squares, and because I cut it all, I couldn’t return it! But, I decided to use it all anyway. :)

Once I got over the color mistake, Mom Poodle and Sis helped me fold all the rest of my petals. smile043

I have to say that it was A PAIN to glue all of them, but after sewing all of the labels for the invitations, this was actually FUN! smile043

I glued all the hot pink flowers the week before my MOH came to visit us, and once she got here to help, she got so into them that she decided to glue a bunch of flowers, so we’re almost finished!

As you can see here, she started really early in the morning with just a cup of tea.

And even though she said she was going to be making a row of flowers a day, she actually glued flowers ALL DAY long and later that day, all of the flowers were DONE!!!

Here you can see them in their box/bed

We also played with them on the carpet so we could count them out better.

Here they are!

MOH Poodle –> You ROCK!! <3 Gracias, gracias!!

I still don’t know If I’ll be mixing the different color flowers or If I should use the hot pink ones in hidden or different areas. Maybe I could use them in in the aisle for the ceremony?

Would you mix the hot pink flowers in with the purple, or use them in different places for the wedding?

You are sooo talented! I think I’d go ahead and use the pink and purple together… pink next to purple ends up looking like a different shade of purple, so it should be okay. :)

Your flowers look like a little army when they are all lined up…I guess that would make you the crafting general? :)

They look so amazing! Your MOH rocks for helping so much. I think the pink compliments the purple really well, and you should just scatter them amongst the purple ones.

Um, so I’m SO glad you shared these photos! I’m doing these too, and I’ve been searching everywhere for paper with color on both sides ’cause I thought it’d look silly if it was only colored on one side…but I actually LOVE how your flowers look! Yay!
