Mrs. Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!

Punched in the Mouth

January 13th, 2010 @ 10:48 am by Mrs. Rainbow

Please don’t call 911, it isn’t what it sounds like! Although Mr. Rainbow and I do like to lay the (play) smack down on each other from time to time, I don’t think either of us has actually been punched in the mouth, fortunately. Bumps, bruises, and the occasional bite mark, sure, but no busted lips. No, this post is about our punch bar that I mentioned here, waaay back when.

If you recall, this was my original inspiration for our punch bar. Pretty, oui?

So one day a few months ago I went to TJMaxx to get a new yoga mat, and of course, like every other time I go there, I had to browse around their housewares section. Hey, you never know what you might find, right? Right! So I’m walking along, browsing the shelves, taking my own sweet time, la-di-da, and what do I find?

Uhm, a crap load of awesome drink dispensers is what I found! Original price $45, TJMaxx price $19.99. I had officially become a Maxxinista, score and a half (please tell me I’m not the only one who finds those commercials ridiculously funny). The only problem was that I had already blown through our allotted wedding funds for the month (thanks a lot, Michaels). I, however, decided to make an exception. Finders keepsies, losers weepsies, yaknowhatImean? I would definitely be weeping if I had missed out on these, so I grabbed 4 and made my way back to the homestead.

Next up: Drink Dispenser Beautification

Have you found a great deal that was worth temporarily fudging the budget for? What was it? Are you having a punch bar at your wedding?

That is a Maxxinista deal if I’ve ever heard one! ;)

Whenever I’m faced with making that type of decision (one where I really want it but maybe kind of don’t have the cash right this second) I ask myself: “Am I going to be disappointed if I don’t buy it, or if I come back in a few days and they don’t have it?” If the answer is yes, I buy it. If not, I put it back on the shelf. It’s a good system to keep me in check, and it sounds like you use it, too!

Those are pretty cute. I like the little iron-wrought bottom. I’m notorious for fudging the budget, so it’s a good thing Mr. Sewing is usually there to reign me in, lol.

I TOTALLY saw those too! I was going to post the find on here then I thought it might just be in my area. I love them! So cute… I can’t wait to see what you are going to do with them.

I LOVE Marshall’s and TJMaxx. Those are so cute, so they’re definintely worth the “oops, I overspent” factor!

That’s a great deal, and they look great, to boot! I guess as long as you don’t spend the $80 or so next month, you come out okay.

Awesome! I also scored four large glass dispensers…off of CL! They’re so pretty! Now I’m trying to figure out how to fill them for the wedding–what cocktail recipes I want and how to quadruple them, and whether to mix it all the day before the wedding or the morning of, and then keeping them refrigerated is a problem I still need to work out… (Mine are really big and don’t fit in the fridge. Only ONE fits in a fridge)

Love those! We might be fudging the budget a little for a friendor who is a videographer. I hate to do it, but I think it will be totally worth it!

I *always* hit up the housewares section at stores like this! Too funny!

I really like those dispensers. I’m toying with the idea of offering beverages at my ceremony - maybe I’ll check out my local Maxx soon!

Ooh, nice find! Worth the budget fudging ;) I’m constantly playing budget games with myself. Like - if I cut $30 from the favors budget, I can have these ___ (whatever)! Too bad I’m running out of places to ‘cut’ stuff from :)
