Songs to Shake To

January 17th, 2010 @ 11:30 am by Mrs. Sewing

Like many couples, Mr. Sewing and I have “our song”. We’ll have to decide whether we want to include it in our wedding, right? Well, here it is in all it’s bum-shaking glory:

We’re both big Franz Ferdinand fans, and we even got to see them in concert last March (and would see them again ANY day, they were great!). Of course we had heard the ever-famous “Take me Out” song from the iPod commercials, but it was the Paradise Kiss ending trailer that really got us hooked.

Unfortunately, this isn’t really ’first dance’ material. At least not for a we-can’t-dance-to-save-our-lives couple like Mr. Sewing and me. So I don’t think we’ll be using this as the “our song”-representative at the wedding. Instead we’ll be going with another favorite of ours:

“Lucky” Official Video With Colbie Caillat

I know the song is about two people that can’t be together due to distance, but even though we no longer have that issue, we originally came from far distances. And summers away from each other were brutal! Plus, I really am in love with my best friend, and we sing this in the car all the time (Note: only in the car). Though Mr. Sewing doesn’t like switching sides and singing Colbie’s part (He’s no fun).

Now of course, somehow we must learn to dance. Otherwise we will seriously just break out in the bum-shaking. Or worse! Head bobs! Or the point and clap!

Is “your song” un-dance-able (or even inappropriate *gasp!*)? Are you dancing to it anyway, or do you have an alternate song in mind?

“Lucky” is such a sweet song and really great for a first dance song. We actually didn’t really have “a song” so we had to pick something for our FD.

Our song is pretty danceable but I’m starting to worry we won’t be very good when it comes to not just swaying.

That’s a great first song! And now you’ll have two songs, so it’s even better!

I think that’s a good choice. We’re not doing a first dance so we really didn’t have to worry about that, thank goodness!

our song is officially “no ordinary love” and at a whopping 6 some minutes, it’s definitely not exactly dance friendly. plus i want something a bit more upbeat for our first dance. i had lucky on my list but the mister vetoed it. sigh. at least you’ll get to use it!

“our song” is Zebrahead - Playmate of the Year. Right - NOT playing that in front of the old people. Also, not really 6-year-old-cousin appropriate. We snuck it in around 10pm when the party was a little more PG-13 :)

Great song for sure! Though “Lucky” is great, too! We really love singing “Loose Lips” and “I’m Glad I Hitched My Applewagon to Your Star” in the car … they’d make for some, uh, interesting first dances. Though we’ve decided to skip that whole thing all together …

Lucky is actually our song as well. FI is in the army and we’ve spent most of our relationship apart so we find this song fitting. Now about dancing…not sure. FI isn’t a big dancer, and this song is at a strange tempo that neither of us can figure out. We’re gonna practice though!
