A Dress for My Flower Girl

January 18th, 2010 @ 4:16 pm by Mrs. Buttons

I’ve been scouring the Internet for an inspiring flower girl dress. There are so many cute ones out there… I don’t know how I’ll choose a style!

The bustle just kills me! How cute is that???

I love how sweet this one is… almost like a little ballerina dress!

This one is just spectacular…but don’t look at the price tag like I did…it will depress you! Ah, how I wish that money was not a concern…

I was so amazed at the array of flower girl dresses on the market, and how different they can all look! Who would have thought?

I stumbled upon this beauty from 5eizen’s Etsy shop

Be still… my heart…

I am in love with the fact that the dress is silk chiffon, the same material that my bridesmaids’ dresses are made out of. I think that this style looks young and sweet, rather than trying to dress up my 3 year old flower girl in something that makes her look like an oversized doll!

The flower detail at the neckline is just precious…and the bubble hem? So sweet…

In an ideal world, I would have purchased this, but the price on this little beauty is rather hefty. I’m going to use it as my flower girl inspiration for the time being, and keep my eyes peeled for something similar when I’m shopping!

What’s your price threshold on a flower girl dress?

I’m having the same price issues, and also distance issues since my FG is in NY and I am in D.C. - but I’m thinking about a third of what the Bridesmaid dresses are - if we go for $150 bridesmaid dresses, I would try to not make FG’s mom spend more than $50 on a dress before accessories.

the mom of my flowergirl didn’t want to spend a lot at all. We found one for $30 on ebay. It’s one of those petal dresses.

I found my flower girl a dress for around $75. It is a bit more simple than the photos above…white with pink sash to match the b-maid dresess. I found it on a website that had a lot of cute flower girl dresses. She loves it so that is all that mattered to me!

We got a dress at Lord and Taylor. But, my flower girl is 9, so we got her something a little more adult and less poufy-looking. You’ve still got time to check out the department stores after Easter though, I bet they’d have some great sales on adorable girly dresses!

I lurve the 5eizen dress as well!!!
I’m torn between getting a dress that they can rewear as a summer dress or a flower girl-y dress. I’m down to two and the summer dress one is the one my niece likes. Haha. I’m giving myself till Feb4 to order so that I can bring it with me when we’re back for Memorial Day Weekend.
P.S. Check Netbride. I got a ridiculous quote for the WaWa dresses that I’m eyeing.

I got lucky and my Mom bought the FG dress and she fell in love with one on my sister and didn’t care what it cost. It was $150, which I thought was outrageous for a little girl dress, but it WAS gorgeous.

… I have exactly one requirement of my bridesmaids dresses and that’s that they’re SUPER twirly. But that second one is drop dead gorgeous.

@Mrs. Star: Sooo lucky! I figured I have to buy the FG dress, so I can’t break the bank!

@KMSull: LOL! I love that rule…very good!

I loved this dress when I first saw it too… I wonder how hard it would be to figure out a template for it and add the rosettes at the top and have a good seamstress make it??

So cute! I’ve been having a blast looking at flower girl dresses too… but I totally feel you on the price thing - they’re expensive! That last one is SO cute!
