I enjoy the color pink, I'm obsessed with the Dior New Look and tulle, and I heart my level 80 paladin. I'm a sucker for bad TV, literary theory, and cakes of all persuasion. I also happen to be marrying the cutest closet nerd around! It's all about Bloomington for us because it's where we met -- on the college paper. If there's a theme for our small summertime wedding, it's Dior meets Dorothy Draper on a lark in Bloomington; think poofy, plus graphic prints, bold colors, and a whole lot of prettiness.

Everybody Loves a Mood Board

January 18th, 2010 @ 10:20 am by Mrs. Ribbons

So the very in thing to do when you’re planning a wedding is to create a mood board. This is very unfair: with the amount of gorgeous images lurking on wedding blogs, I become pretty paralyzed when it comes to choosing a… mood.

I know the primary color will be pink. I know it’s going to be girly. But beyond that I really struggled to make any real decision. So this was my first try:

Everybody Loves a Mood Board : wedding color schemes Moodboa moodboa

Clockwise from top left: 1, 2, 3, 4

I liked the colors, but it felt pretty vague. Then I stumbled on a board from The Bride’s Guide.

The black and pink was so chic, yet I wanted more humor, more pizazz. I was onto something, but not quite there yet.

Did you experiment with mood boards? Did it actually help you set a mood?

I made an initial inspiration board, which was totally amazing because it included both Karl Lagerfeld and “To Do: Stuff, Be Awesome.”

For some reason I think it might help me to revisit doing the inspiration/mood board thing during this time of wedding identity crisis. :p

@Miss Ribbons: He’s getting an invitation, and also Mr. Scissors’ father may try to channel him. Crazy Germans. I’m just glad they share my love affair with Karl.

I like your mood board-starters! I’d have no idea where to begin if I were to make one..so I don’t think I’ll be attempting that, lol

We’re doing (shades of) pink and black — I think both of your boards are great, but I’m excited to see what you decided on!

I’m way to impatient and lazy to fiddle around with images to create one, hehe :)
