Piecing It Together

January 18th, 2010 @ 1:52 pm by Mrs. Rainbow

Alright, hive! The time has finally come to talk centerpieces. I told you in my flower post that I was going the fake route, and I hadn’t really revisited it again. Until now, that is! First off, let me show you my main pieces (i.e. the pieces that will hold our tick-tock table numbers).

Table 1

Table 2 (sorry if a few of the clocks are crooked, I haven’t glued them in yet)

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception Z20905802 3oclock

Table 3 (one of my favorites)

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception Z20905803 4oclock

Table 4

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception Z20905804 5oclock

Table 5

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception Z20905805 6oclock

Table 6

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception Z20905806 7oclock

Table 7 (this one is for our sweetheart table, see the kissing birds?)

Okay, so by now, you know that I’ll be using long tables, but I’m having a bit of a dilemma. Besides these pieces being in the center of the tables, I have absolutely no clue how else I should decorate the rest of the table length. I set up an impromptu table out of boxes in our loft (because I’m too lazy to bring all this stuff downstairs) and set up a few options. Now I need you to help me decide!

Option 1:

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception B209058 b209058

This is what I call the “standard” option. With the large centerpiece in the middle, and a symmetrical series of candles and flowers. I like it, but I’m wondering if it’s too expected and blah. Plus, I’d have to buy a crap load more flowers, which I’m not liking the prospect of.

Option 2:

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception B20905801 b20905801

Basically the same as option one, but with a more scattered and imperfect looking candle set-up. I like the visual interest the mish-mosh of candles creates, but again, I’d still have to buy a poo load more flowers, although not as many as the symmetrical version, as this one is supposed to look a little “imperfect”.

Option 3:

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception B20905802 b20905802

Just one large flower centerpiece with a bunch of candles scattered about. It would obviously save me from having to fork out more money for flowers (which is a good thing), but is it too plain? I love a lot of candlelight, but I don’t want it to look boring.

Option 4:

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception B209059 b209059

Piecing It Together : wedding decor diy reception Z209059 scatter

(closer shot so you can really see the jewels)

Same as option 3, but with colored jewels from these projects. It adds more interest and color to the all candle set-up without my having to spring for more flowers. However, I can’t decide if it just looks entirely too busy. Bear in mind, we haven’t chosen linen colors, so any input on that would also be appreciated.

Which set-up is your favorite?

Normally I’m not a huge “Scattered Jewel” fan but it really works with your whimsical tablescape. I love it! Great Job Miss Rainbow!

I like the slight-randomness of option 2, but with the little jewels from option 4! :D *sigh* I love your little clocks sooo much!

What about something like option 2, but instead of two large side flower arrangements, using a couple of your votive holders to hold just a couple flowers? It would be less expensive that way, but you’d still have more… “interest” on the tables?

The jewels are fun as well though, so really you can’t go wrong here. ;)

I voted for option 2 but with jewels!

I put 4, but you could scatter just a few buds on the table too maybe? Not sure how that would look, but you wouldn’t need to buy an a$$ load of new flowers, just a few.

All of these centerpieces are so pretty! The clocks and birds accent the flowers so well. I’m with Miss Sewing…I like how the candleholders are arranged in option 2, but I like the jewels on the table too. My vote is to combine those options.

I think option 4 works best because you won’t need to buy a crap load more flowers (those things are ’spensive!) and the jewels def make me think of your alice-in-wonderland theme!

I like four, saves you from buying more flowers, but adds a little more to the table with the jewels.

I pick 3 because there wouldn’t be as much stuff (flowers) to look over and talk around. The peppering of candles will give it more of that whimsical feel…but hey that’s just my thought…and maybe some clear glass tea cups to put candles in to tie in your Alice theme!

I like two but I think you have other options…What about swapping out a few random votives for fake flowers, so you don’t have to buy a ton more flowers, just a few, but still keep that scattered look? EIther way, the clocks and the centerpieces in general look AMAZING!

2 - I think it looks better with more flowers and the scattered feel.

if you’re very concerned with budget, #4 is a great option–you can’t go wring with candlelight. if money isn’t too big of a hurdle, i would go for #2–the mis of flowers and candles is just lovely.

Can we combine #2 and #4? that would be my ideal.

I love option two, and I think you can get away with not buying TOO many more flowers. You could even add some jewels in I think! Your theme really calls for a bit of extravagance, I think!!
