Random Inspiration

January 19th, 2010 @ 10:20 am by Mrs. Ribbons

Here’s a little diddy about me: in college I was an English major and I completed an honors thesis in creative writing. I was forced to constantly look around and make mental notes about odd or pretty things I noticed. With wedding planning I catch myself doing the same thing — finding color inspiration in random objects and places.

So, this is the new fragrance from Michael Kors. I have no idea what it smells like but the bottle is perfect. Coral pink and gold makes me a little giddy.

Now this introduces a new feel to my wedding scheme - glamour.

We had romance and girliness and a hint of vintage, but now we have glam. It’s almost leading me into a Dorothy Draper mood, where I can mix stripes and florals and yes! Gold! Oh dreaminess.

All this because of a little bottle of perfume.

Have found inspiration in random places?

I just saw this bottle a few days again and almost bought it online, but then I realized.. wait.. I don’t even know what it smells like! LOL, Damn those marketers and their packaging prowess.

Ohhhhh. I love pink and gold. I want to do those colors so much - talk about pure class! I worry that it would be TOO girly though. Especially since I think one is supposed to do mostly pink with accent touches of gold instead of the other way around. And would my bridesmaids hate me if I put them in champagne colored dresses?

The fragrance is divine! I received Very Hollywood from my fiancee’ for Christmas. The bottle and its packaging made me think that if I were having a spring or summer wedding that the coral and gold would have been a very classy color combination.

Off topic, but you look just like Juliette Lewis in “The Other Sister”.

Inspiration can really come frome anywhere. The majority of mine has come from highway signs.. . .and trying to find all kinds of random ways to incorporate them. . .while still keeping it a classy affair.

@trisha: You are not the first person to compare me to Juliette Lewis :) I never know if it’s a compliment though, ha.
@Magdalena: I went through a phase of wondering if my bridesmaids would hate me too for my color choices.@Miss Rainbow: I have the same reaction to the Marc Jacobs perfumes.

This actually does smell very good! It is sweet, as @Happy Nappy Bride said, but smells delicious! Added bonus to go along with the stellar packaging!

It smells divine! I highly recommend you try it in the Sephora sampler box.. then you get a certificate for the full size bottle if you like it. It’s a little sassy, a little sweet, not too floraly. The packaging totally matches the scent!

@Miss Ribbons: Oh, I know! I loved the bottle for Marc’s “Lola” and I wanted it so bad, until I smelled it. I was bummed!
