Florists Make Me Happy

January 21st, 2010 @ 10:57 am by Mrs. Ribbons

I just got off the phone with a florist, who made me sound like the most stylish, pulled-together bride ever. We talked about my desire, nay, need, for a pink peony bouquet, ideas for a mix of centerpieces, vintage vases, oh… it goes on.

Thank god she’s a peony enthusiast too. My obsession stems mostly from how much they remind me of home. My mom has a giant peony bush, so seeing/smelling them sends me back to early summer days in Indiana, when I was a wee lass. Aye! So having them at our wedding is a must. It also helps that they’ll be in season!

We also talked hostas. Again, mom has a ton of hostas. I think they look amazing as greenery, so we’ll be using those as well in my bouquet and centerpieces. I’ll leave you with some inspiration, while I wait for a quote that might give me some sort of cardiac event.

That bouquet is freaking unbelievable. Pink peonies are gorgeous, and I think they go really well with your theme/feel.

… I love that you’re using flowers that remind you of childhood! I didn’t even think about doing that. But you may be the only person in the world who has said “Florists make me happy”… ha.

Peonies are my favorite flowers! I am using them and hydrangeas…. both of which add to our southern wedding :) My must have? Magnolias… we are having them everywhere!

I love peonies, sadly they will not be in season when we get married! Hoping I’ll be able to use garden roses instead!

@Mrs. Mouse: I died when I saw that bouquet.
@SweetSavannah: Magnolias sound perfect for a southern wedding!
@Briteangl8: You are TOO lucky. I constantly curse the fact I don’t live in atlanta!

Do love the peonies! But not having any, unfortunately. :) My must-have flower was green tea roses, until my florist convinced me to go with supergreen… she’d better be right. ;)

Hot pink peonies are a must for me - I believe that they capture my essence: pink, girly, and ruffle-y. I also want to include white roses somewhere because that’s Mr. CW’s fraternity flower, and it played a big part in our early courtship! (I am also a sucker for stephanotis, but I’m not sure where to throw that in!)

I love peonies so so much! Our flowers are plumerias (frangipanis) because there used to be a huge tree near where my grandmother lives in Australia and I always loved picking a flower off that tree. They are my favourite flower.

I’m obsessed with peonies as well, so happy I’m getting married in May, while they are in season!
