Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/Vermont Age and Occupation: 26, High School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer Engineer Engagement Date: August 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall Reception About Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.

My Secret Shame

January 21st, 2010 @ 6:13 pm by Mrs. Pudding

I have been thinking about writing this post for a while, but have held off in fear of being tarred and feathered by an angry bridal mob. As I type, I fear that I may get an email from Pengy any minute demanding that I surrender my bee privileges. I can only hope that the hive will accept my shame, and not be too harsh with judgment.

So, with bated breath, I give you my shameful confession:

My Secret Shame : wedding music Happy Chicken happy-chicken

(source)

I love The Chicken Dance. I always have. In fact, Mr. Pudding loves it too. When we hear the sound of that happy song, we just can’t wait to get out onto the dance floor and start “wiggling our butts”.

To make things worse, we also like channeling the village people in the YMCA, and getting our conga on to “Feelin’ Hot, Hot, Hot”. Oh, the shame!

Honestly, I find that these songs, as tacky as they may be, help me loosen up. They’re a great way to get the “non-dancers” in the crowd out on the dance floor, since the steps are simple, and pretty universal.

So, there you have it, hive. My secret shame. Will you still have me?

What songs do you love that usually land on most people’s “do not play” lists?

LOL… love it! I have pretty much all of those on my “do not play list”, but I’d totally dance to them at someone else’s wedding. ;)

Spaniel hit it on the nose… everyone puts these songs on their DNP list, yet they all love to dance to it at other peoples weddings.

I love the Chicken Dance too! The electric slide & macarena? Count me in! Even the most modest guest will jump in on the chicken dance or bunny hop! haha :) Awesome post!

OMG… when I read the beginning of this post I thought you were about to say something really terrible, but it was only the Chicken Dance! …which is kind of terrible in its own right. But to each her own, right? Enjoy flapping your wings at your wedding :-)

Awwe Pudding- I love you more for it! :-) One of my favorite songs is always on people’s do not play list- (hint: *little in the middle but she got much back*) and will probably make an appearance at our wedding.

Pretzel, that was at my wedding too!! Aww Pudding I guess I’ll still keep you around even though I can’t stand those songs. You won’t ever catch me doing any of those dances unless you get me super drunk and people make me

P.S.: I once worked with a woman who was an anthropologist and therefore a carefully trained observer. One of her retirement ambitions? Travel the world and make a documentary of the Chicken Dance and it’s many incarnations across cultures. Seriously!

Ain’t no shame if that’s your style :o). They’re not up my alley so to speak, but I still think they’re fun.

LOL!! I actually wanted the “Electric Slide” but my DJ didn’t play it. As long as you and Mr. Pudding like it, who cares?

The only song my FI has asked to be played so far is the Chicken Dance! (I am also thinking about playing the forbidden Macarena, only because our crowd’s age will be reminiscing on that!)

lol! Thats hilarious. While the chicken dance did go on our DNP list - Sister Sledge’s We are Family was on our must play list!! We skipped the electric slide and macarena, but did play some Michael Jackson and Bon Jovi to get the non dancers out on the floor!

We had a polka band at our wedding, so the chicken dance was a given. Our dance floor was busy all night, but I’d say the majority of our guests got on the dance floor for the chicken dance and we have some awesome pictures. In reality, it’s the dances that so many people have on their do not play lists that get the most people out on the dance floor. I didn’t dictate anything to our band and went with the flow. Enjoy all your dances!!!

I also love these dances and am frankly really disappointed when people don’t allow them!

I’m not big fan of the chicken dance but lots of my favorites are on other brides DNP lists so i support your right to chicken dance your wedding away! Dance on!
