Mrs. Pretzel's Picture
Mrs. Pretzel, Seattle Age and Occupation: 32 Learning, Training, and Development Specialist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28 Manufacturing Engineer Engagement Date: September 2, 2009 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Church & The Engine Room at Georgetown Studios About Me: I’m just a thirty-something girl who never dreamed of weddings, poofy dresses, or ritzy receptions. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married. Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.

Retro Chic: Pike Place Market

After hanging out at the gas station, Mr Pretzel changed into a more casual outfit. You know in hindsight, Mr P changed clothes more than me during our photo shoot. We also grabbed some sunflowers (Mr Pretzel’s favorite flower) before heading to the iconic Pike Place Market. We hammed it up in front of the Market sign, in back of the flower stalls, and in nearby Post Alley where we encountered Seattle’s Gum Wall.

I feel like a 1950s domestic goddess here!

We love to laugh, can you tell?

The market was a lot of fun. I was really uncomfortable with the gum wall, though. It smelled sickeningly sweet and was a bit nauseating. Our photographer suggested it and assured us that it would make for great photos. I was skeptical, but in the end I love the photos that he took from above, but just look at my discomfort in the first shot he took. (Mental commentary added by Miss P)

Were you uncomfortable at any time in your e-photos? Were you pleasantly surprised when trusting the vision of the photographer?

Fabulous shots, Pretzel! I also find the gum wall revolting, it won’t be anywhere near our e-pics. Pike Place photos have been done and redone, but yours still look fresh and original, I’m seriously loving them. And I have to say, you look beautiful without your glasses, not to say you don’t look fantastic with them too. :)

These are so cute…I love the sunflowers! And again your dress…love it! There is a gum tree on South Street in Philly…but I didnt know this the first time walking around with my parents and I was trying to get around some people and almost leaned my hand against the tree of gum!!! I have to say the wall is neat…but weird! :)

How cute! My fiance is from Seattle - we wanted to get pictures taken while we were there for the holidays but got caught up in family things. Oddly enough, we went to the gum wall while we were at the market and I was disgusted too.

@LittlestBirds: :) Thanks! I just got new glasses (I am a glasses whore!) and some new contacts. I also learned I can wear contacts with reading glasses for upclose work so you might just start seeing more of Pretzel sans glasses!

I was in Seattle in September and there was an entire bridal party doing formal shots in front of the gum wall.

Like the guy in your pictures, I’m pretty sure my BF and I are in the background of theirs…only not fitting in quite so well.
