I Have a Ribbon Problem

January 23rd, 2010 @ 5:20 pm by Mrs. Ribbons

So, I have these ribbons.

I Have a Ribbon Problem : wedding crafts decor L100044 L100044

All bazillion yards of it (or about 80). During a trip to Chicago I stopped at Vogue Fabrics in Evanston and found these in a clearance bin, $3/spool. A SPOOL! I grabbed what I could find in pink and it was delightful. I also bought 2.5 yards of black grosgrain, which, incidentally, also cost $3.

I got these quite early in the game with no discernible plan for them. Yes, I committed a DIY sin.

So, what can I do with random bits of ribbon? I’m Miss Ribbons and I have no idea what to do with ribbons.

use them to tie programs together?
to wrap around menu cards?
wrap around vases, unity candle, or cake stand?
wrap around bouquets or card box
I used ribbon to decorate my flower girls basket, heabdand, and dress….

I have definitely seen ribbon hung from the backs of the back row of chairs at a ceremony and loved it! I was going to do it for my wedding (I bought a ton of ribbon too) but somehow it went by the wayside!

I searched “ribbon” on Once Wed and these are the search results… there are a couple cute things, and I bet you could add them in your centerpieces?

I know Vogue! I bought some stuff for my own wedding there (and other craft projects). My husband grew up in Evanston. Oh…and can’t you do that ribbon across the table thing with some double-stick tape-a la Miss Pencils?

How about a ribbon wreath? The down side of this is you’d probably have to go buy MORE ribbon (such a shame I tell you! ;) )

I’m thinking of making a pomander with ribbon flowers.
I featured a tutorial on my blog last week

are you using flowers for your centerpiece? wrap the stems in these ribbons or tie a bow around a vase… even on candles the ribbons would look elegant : )

I used all my leftover ribbon to tie on everything as embellishments–baskets, programs, favors, etc. We’re talking lots o ribbons. I used copious amounts to wrap our bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts, too. Real ribbon looks So fancy and pretty.

You can make really amazing flowers out of them- then pin ‘em to everything. I think my post and tutorial about it will be up soonish and they’d be so pretty in those colors!

There was a wedding floating around the blogs awhile ago (it was pretty amazing) where they tied ribbons to the backs of all the chairs! It was soooo pretty.
