Mrs. Pudding's Picture
Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/Vermont Age and Occupation: 26, High School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer Engineer Engagement Date: August 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall Reception About Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
About Mrs. Pudding

Bookworm

January 25th, 2010 @ 11:35 am by Mrs. Pudding

There are a few things that I enjoy more than curling up with a good book. I have always loved reading, and have fond memories of hiding under the covers with a flashlight and the newest BSC novel. My taste in books has evolved over the years, but the bookworm in me remains constant.

Since I want our wedding to be reflective of our personalities and tastes, I have been looking for ways to incorporate my love of reading into our wedding. I thought about using books in our centerpieces, a la Mrs. Lovebug, or perhaps giving them a nod on our invitations like Mrs. Avocado. Non of these options seemed quite right though, until I saw this tutorial for a beautiful wreath made out of the pages of old books. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with one, or how it would turn out, but I just knew that I had to make one.

After a couple of days of hot glue gun fumes, the wreath is complete. I’m still not sure what I’m going to do with it, but I think that it came out fabulous! Wanna see?

I’m thinking of making another one and hanging them on the doors of our church. What do you think? Any other suggestions on how I can use it?

Are you making sure that your favorite things are represented at the wedding?

That is one beautiful wreath! If you’re doing a unity candle, you could put one of these on the table around it… but I like the church door idea - it says, ‘classically unique’
We incorporated our favorite things with our venue. We’re from Washington state, and we love the water, so it’ll be in/near both!

wow, awesome job, pudding! are their inner and outer doors to the church? i was just wondering that if they’re on the “real” outside, if rain/wind would be an issue since this seems more delicate than other wreaths. wherever you put them, though, they will be sure to get noticed!

That looks fantastic! If you haven’t already done pew decorations, you could make smaller ones for the pews, although it would be a lot of work. I love the texture and think they’d also look great on the doors!

freaking in love with that!! as a fellow bookworm, really adore it. I think making a second one (if you have the time) would be amazing and then you can take it from the church and set it at the gift table or something!

@jmax: I like the unity candle idea! Thanks!

@Miss Pug: I might have to wash your mouth out with soap! There will be nothing but sunshine on our wedding day :P

@renaissancetrophywife: Hmmm…smaller ones would be less time consuming. Thanks for the suggestion!

@mimi06d: @mrspaetz: Thanks for the kind words! I think that it will end up on our wall somewhere :P

@heather25: It’s hard to say, since I did it in front of the tv for a couple of evenings. I would say, start to finish, 3-5 hours? This is also a pretty large wreath!

@Miss Spaniel: @tea: Thanks!

@Miss Trail Mix: I linked to the tutorial in my post. I guess that I could do a “through my eyes” post, but Lindsay does a great job with the instructions…she even has a video!

@bunny: For some reason, your link doesn’t work…I’d love to see your version!

@Miss Pencils: Great idea! It could serve double duty!

That is gorgeous!! And I’m also a bookworm so you’ve given me a fabulous idea for our wedding!!! I’m also naming our tables after some of our favorite authors (with quotes underneath the name) and attaching quotes to each of the guests escort cards. We’re also thinking about putting a quote on the wedding cake. Oh and we’ll have a basket of books in the lounge area so people can curl up with a good book by the fire! More literature please!!! =)

BOOK READERS/ ENGLISH MAJORS UNITE! This is absolutely fabulous! Although, it hurts me a little bit to see a book all torn up. But it’s still gorgeous looking!

@marcam882: Those are some great ideas! Thanks for sharing!

@amanda.lynn: Thanks! They’re pretty easy to make!

@KMSull: Don’t worry, it wasn’t a book that would win a Pulitzer any time soon :P

That is toooooooootally awesome, Pudding! You should use them on the ceremony doors and re-use them at the reception!

I think it’s great that you used pages from a book - so creative and it turned out great!
