I can usually be found with my nose in a book, my feet (or at least my toes) on the ground, my head in the clouds, and my arm around the prettiest girl you ever saw- aka Fiancee Stripes. Together we’re planning a FUN vintage/modern French carnival wedding extravaganza and rockin’ dance party on a dime. (Say that three times fast!) Good coffee, long lists, Uniball pens, and my iPhone keep me sane, and making art, making trouble, and making out keep me happy! I love urban adventures, bike rides that end with afternoon drinks, breakfast for dinner, beautiful light, photography, travel, my furry family, and of course, my beautiful fiancee! About Ms. Stripes

Dear Hedi Slimane…

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Heidi S022 Heidi-Slimane

I spent a few Saturdays ago in the mall shopping for work, which generally involves long lines, slow walkers, heavy bags, and being glared at by pedestrian shoppers as I negotiate the Macy’s elevator with a rolling rack. Yeah, my job is super glamorous! Anyway, on this particular day there was a silver lining to my personal working-on-a-Saturday rain cloud, and of course it was wedding related! I was totally inspired by all the super awesome menswear-inspired women’s wear out in the world! Yup. I’m talking about ladies in suits.

First off you should know that I absolutely love menswear! I love it all—chic tailoring, grey flannel, skinny suits, the perfect sweater, vintage western wear, and the list goes on. You know what I love even more? A woman in perfectly tailored menswear.

HOT! HOT! HOT!

You wanna see what I’m talking about?

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Marlene032 Marlene

Yup. Marlene Dietrich. Classic.

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Katheri032 katherine

So fucking rad, right?

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Lesmoki022 Lesmoking

Yves Saint Laurent. 1975. Le Tuxe. Sigh.

You wanna see more contemporary examples? May I recommend…

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Zooey022 zooey

Boy by Band of Outsiders

How totally cute is a grey short suit? LOVE.

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Marisa0212 marisa

More Boy-Tails, anyone?

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Boy21 boy2

More Boy-mix and match mayhem.

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Country Chic country-chic

source, source, source, source

Good inspiration for a country-chic affair, yes?

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Lou022 lou

source

I’d love to see a bride in a suit (or better yet, the tails!) rock a mini-top hat!

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Runway 0211 runway-beauties

source, source, source

A more sophisticated affair, perhaps?

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress Finally021 finally

source

Just plain awesome.

Dear Hedi Slimane… : wedding dress White0211 white

source, source, source, source

And finally- the WHITE suit. For some reason people always assume one of us is gonna wear one!? I’m not really sure why that is, but if we were gonna go that route I’d want the Demeulemeester!

So are you ready to return your dress yet? More importantly are you prepared to rob a bank in order to afford these beauties? Not so much, huh? So what’s a budget bride gotta do to get a look worthy of Hedi Slimane?

I have to say that brides (who wanna wear a suit) are in luck right now—this stuff is all over the place and with a little creativity I think you can pull together an awesome suit straight off the rack of your local chain store.

Next up - getting a bad-ass suit on a budget OR I never thought I’d be so inspired in Sherman Oaks.

Stay tuned. :)

I love me a good suit. I have a cream one, although it has a skirt, not pants. I love wearing it…It makes me feel very Jackie-O.
