I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!
About Mrs. Sewing

I Need My Princess Leia, er, Husband!

January 26th, 2010 @ 10:27 am by Mrs. Sewing

No joke, this is how I envision myself walking down the aisle:

*Sigh* My dream! Mr. Sewing says no way. But I mean, come on, Sewing-Dad can even do a Wookiee yell halfway down the aisle!

What kind of music should I use, if I can’t use this? Well, Mr. Sewing was okay with using Final Fantasy or Zelda instrumentals, as long as it wasn’t a too well-known theme (no One-Winged Angel, sorry!). Then there’s also anime background soundtracks, Broadway musical instrumentals, or simply a good old fashioned piano hymn. Just about anything can be found in an instrumental version these days. With so many choices, how will we ever choose?

In the meantime, I’ll continue my effort to convince Mr. Sewing of my first choice. Maybe for the recessional?

What are you doing for your “walk”? Are you keeping it simple or making a dramatic entrance?

That was our recessional and it rocked! we planted a couple light sabers in the audience and people were really surprised. They even made a light-saber arch for us to walk under as we left the ceremony…

I say GOOOO for it!!

Awesome! I think you guys HAVE to do something nerdy/gamer-y as your ceremony music. I 100% support it, haha.

OMG! Please do it! And I love the light sabers in the audience that Julie mentioned! LOL. Too awesome. Lucky for me F Stripes is gonna be in charge of all things music related, I’d be lost!

DO IT!!! I’m planning on walking down the aisle to “Across the Stars” (the music playing during Anakin and Padme’s wedding — youtube it on the harp! I love it!) and then after the ceremony walking back to the throne room music. I was even thinking about having Zelda playing before the ceremony starts.

This would suit me too, since my name is Leia :) Born the year it came out, and though my parents tell me it’s a version of my great grandmother’s name (Lela), I know the truth.
I say do what makes you happy. I am planning on the recessional being “Say Hey, I love you”, new song by Michael Fratteti which is quite unconventional.

I am walking down to Dearly Beloved from Kingdom Hearts 2. I don’t care if its widely recognized. It makes me all teary eyed, my heart beat madly and just all over swoon. So its a keeper in my book!

I love this little pocket of support here! thanks for providing me ammo to convince Mr. Sew that it’s not crazy! :D

@julia: That sounds absolutely amazing! Especially that lightsaber arch! Mr. Sew would kill me if I snuck that in!
@princessleia: That sounds like a great plan! Love the icon! ;)
@LCDailey: Aww, I love that song! I think it’ll be a great upbeat recessional!
@Cydney: True that, it shouldn’t matter as long as it means something to the two of you! Great song choice! :D

FBIL was in a wedding where the groomsmen processed to “The Legend of Zelda”. They were also dressed as a ninja, a wizard, and I forget the rest. It was weird, but funny.

I. Love. This. At one point, there was talk of a wedding at my parents house, and the idea of the wedding party coming out of the garage doors was mentioned. My brother was convinced that this song should start playing as the doors raised, presenting the bride. It would have been awesome, and it WILL be awesome if you guys do it! :)

Wait… so you would stand and wait for Mr. Sewing or Mr. Sewing would stand but you would walk in with your dad??

Either way, I think it rocks! I’ve been desperately trying to convince my fiance to let me stand and wait!! Or for us to both just walk in together. We’re trying to find a way to make it a little less “dramatic”.

And, I agree with Amanda.Lynn - - you should totally walk down the aisle to it!!

Do it! Personal touches are so much fun. When I finished high school there was a sort of recessional to “Imperial March” - it worked great!

The Throne Room music was what the ex-Mr. Fondue and I were going to use as our entrance to the reception, so I think it would be awesome!

I was going to do the Aria di Mezzo Carattere from FF6 for the processional, since it doesn’t sound all that much like video game music (especially when played by live instruments) and it’s a gorgeous piece.

Duu eet! Would make for the best. ceremony. ever!

What about the Zanarkand theme from FFX? Also, one of my favorite anime soundtracks is from the Ah! My Goddess series…lots of short, instrumental tracks.

We also want to use less traditional music for our ceremony, but haven’t nailed down any songs, yet. Love your ideas!
