Mrs. Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!
About Mrs. Rainbow

If My Life Were a Movie

January 26th, 2010 @ 11:43 am by Mrs. Rainbow

Well, hopefully Mr. Rainbow and I would be played be Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt:

I often joke that we’re the broke man’s Brad & Angie; a misunderstood brunette with a heart of gold, and a blonde haired, blue eyed fox with an adventurous streak, minus the mansions, millions of dollars, and 84 kids. And uhm, they have chemistry for days, but that’s beside the point.

No matter who we happen to be played by, I know exactly who I’d want to film it—our super amazing videographer, Ian of Movie Magic Productions.

At first I was on the fence about shelling out money for a videographer. I thought, ‘Aren’t pictures enough?’

That was until Mr. R and I went to that god forsaken bridal expo and I heard a videographer say this:

“Years ago, I was watching my parents’ wedding video for the first time. It was so amazing to see my family members so much younger than I’d ever seen them. As I was watching their video, I saw an old man who had the exact same laugh as me. He was my grandfather. He had passed before I was born, and I had never had a chance to meet him. It was unbelievable to hear someone that I’d never met laugh exactly like I do. I really felt a connection to my family, to my roots, and to that man, although I had never met him. None of that would have been possible through pictures alone. Even if you choose not to hire me, I have to recommend you hire someone, anyone, to capture your wedding on film.”

Now, I don’t know if that was just some BS story that he made up to drum up some business, but real or not, it really touched me. I didn’t end up hiring that particular videographer, but I knew that we had to have one, and the search began.

For a while, I felt like Goldilocks. Some were too expensive, some weren’t high quality enough, some were too cheesy, some were too stylized, some were too blah, but one was juuuust right, and that was Ian.

He’s another one of those vendors (like our photographer) that you just want to be around. Not to mention, he’s ridiculously talented. See for yourself:

I went through the same decision! I couldn’t decide, but watching all of the films on here made me realize that it was something I wanted to put more effort into than just hoping someone videotaped it. We ended up asking one of our high school friends who has his own film company now. I cannot wait to have our day and see how it comes out!

That’s a really nice video! I’m sort off regretting not getting videography, but we decided to go with a really good photog instead. I look forward to seeing your video at some point, Rainbow :)

I saw a film that including a lot of shots of the couples grandparents. Lambster and I have already lost two grandfathers between us and I knew how much we would cherish video of us interacting with them. We viewed it as an investment in capturing memories.

I could not NOT have a videographer! Actually ours calls himself a Wedding Cinemotagrapher lol. I love old video. Fi’s grandfather was a camera guy for NBC so in the 40’s he had super hi-tech equipment (for the times of course) and now we get to see COLOR footage of Fi’s family from way back then - NYC in the 40’s, crazy! Looks like a Hollywood film. One day our grandkids may be watching us thinking it is so old school too.

I want a videographer. BUT, it’s just not in the cards for us, budget-wise. :-(

Being able to relive my wedding day memories through a video would be very special to my family and I. It is actually something I really really want. But when it comes 2 our budget the prices are just too much at the moment. So if we dont hire someone to the filming, we will probably have a friend that volunteered and then have the raw footage edited.

Im no movie star and we have no dreams of making a film debut so really? did we need a video? That was our thought process. It certainly wasnt anything I was willing to spend money on, but I decided that it might be nice the have it on film - so my dad broke out his camera and I handed it to my 14 year old cousin and I am sooo glad I did!! We have AMAZING photos - and thankfully I was really aware of all teh wonderfulness of that day, but watching the video? hearing our vows again? So great. The video quality isnt great - the sounds is meh and when the sun goes down it gets hard to see the dancing - but I have the video and I love it. I am sooo glad I did and I recommend it to every bride.

We went back and forth about a videographer. We finally decided to buy a Flip camera or the new Kodak one, and we asked a good friend to film it for us.

i really want a videographer because there will be things that happen at your wedding that you will either not know about or will forget in the haze of being married and celebrating. i want to see it all!

That was my biggest wedding regret - I don’t have a wedding video! It makes my heart a bit sad.

There was no question that we would have a video. I know I hate watching them right away… but a few years later? I might like to see them again. :)

Yes, and it was a decision I came to later in the planning process. I originally rule them out, but started to realize just how important they are!

Our videographer was one of the first vendors we booked - I’d been eying her after coming across her work when helping my sister plan her own wedding!

We originally didn’t plan on having one, but worked it into our budget because the one we chose was one we just had to have!

For the ceremony, I think we are. But that’s only at my Mom’s request.
