Mrs. Pudding's Picture
Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/Vermont Age and Occupation: 26, High School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer Engineer Engagement Date: August 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall Reception About Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
About Mrs. Pudding

My search for the perfect wedding shoes has not been an easy one, and unfortunately, this story has no happy ending yet. I thought that I had hit the jackpot when I saw these on the Nine West website:

My First (But Not Last) Wedding Return : wedding add new tag shoes Pgnwjanikataupesapd.jpg

(source)

They were almost perfect: A beige satin with a slight sheen, pleats (which also make an appearance in my dress), and a darling embellishment. The best part?

They were on sale for $39.99! Sure, the heel, at 3.5 inches, was higher than my desired “3 inches or less” criteria, but I own many Nine West shoes because I find them to be affordable and well made - my feet never hurt in a Nine West shoe. So I ordered them, patiently waited for them to come in, and prayed that the heel wouldn’t be too high.

Unfortunately, my prayers weren’t answered this time around. The shoes were darling, and so comfortable. But, alas, the heel was slightly too high:

Sorry for the stale pedicure. Also, I’m pretty sure that I didn’t shave that day. My apologies.

For a moment, I thought about just keeping them. Even if I didn’t wear them to the wedding, I could find other uses for them, right? And really, $39.99 is such a good price for a pair of adorable, comfortable heels. And than, the voice of reason - aka Mama Pudding - reminded me that with a wedding just around the corner, every penny counted. So, with a tear in my eye, I took them back to the post office, and sent them on their way. Perhaps a Weddingbee reader could give them a happy home?

So, my shoe search continues. Sadly, I doubt that this will be the last shoe return that I will make before the wedding comes around.

How many times did you buy and return shoes before finding just the right ones?

P.S. Part of the reason why I love 4+inch heels is that they make my giant feet look smaller… any other big - footed girls feel this way?

I hear ya! With a size 11 foot, I need all the help I can get with that… but being 5′10 the 4 inch heel is a little high ;)

Hi! I bought those same shoes in gray for my wedding! I was able to get the heel cut down by half an inch. Wanted to share in case you wanted to go that route!
Good luck!

@megs605: I’m 5′11″ with a size 11 shoe!
I hate seeing super cute display shoes and then when they bring them out in my size thinking it looks an awful lot like a clown shoe! I don’t own/wear many heels, I’ll have to check if it makes my feet look smaller!
Also, I love those shoes and am very sad you had to return them :(

Same as Megs–I have big feet! It’s such a tradeoff. I am making a shoe return this week, too! Well… I’m still pretty undecided about them, but I think I’ll end up returning them.

Good luck with the shoes!

love the shoes, but I’m in the same boat - no shoes more than 3 inches high. I can’t wear heels on a regular basis, and I have a feeling I will be sticking with flats for my wedding day!

Miss Pudding these shoes are EXACTLY what I have been looking for, right down to the heel size. And I think the color will perfectly match my Cafe colored sash! Thank you so much for sharing your great find!!

Hmm wait though, as I rescanned they looked more gold in the second picture…is it more gold than beige in person?

5′8″ with a big fat 11 foot. :-( Luckily Mr. SB is 6′3″ so I can still wear 4 inch heels, but my problem with heels is that we large feet people can’t wear cute pointy toe shoes without our feet looking like clowns…

5′9 with a 10 foot. And the Mister is just a bit taller than me so I too need 3 inches or less. Finding shoes has been harder than finding the dress!

I love those shoes! Sounds like we’re searching for different criteria. My shoes all need to have at least a 3 inch heel to give me some height.

Love the shoes, they are very pretty. I’m not getting “too high” high heels. lol. I’m kinda like Sandra Bullock n Ms. Congeniality. I’m more of a flats kinda girl. That’s why I will be wearing some nice walkable heels for the ceremony n switching over to flats for the reception.

Big feet girls unite!! hahaha

Actually what I have found that really helps is to have some kind of back on the shoe. If it is a mule or just a small strap it makes your feet look SOOOO much bigger. It doesn’t need to be functional, just big enough to trick your eye.

@JLA: Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into that!

@Miss Guinea Pig: I know what you mean! My mom and I call those types of shoes “canoes”.

@crebre80: Sigh. I don’t think that I need that type of downer :P

@LaborOfLove: If you’re unsure, return them. You obviously don’t love them!

@mrs mossman: hmmm….I have other pictures of them. PM me if your interested in seeing them. They definitely have a sheen to them, but they’re not a “yellow” gold.

@silverbrooke: I know what you mean! I always try to squeeze my foot into a smaller size, and than my toes suffer :P

@Champagne Wishes: I’ll let you know if I find something ;)

@canegirl08: Good tip! I’ll have to pay attention to that!

I think I went through 6 pairs of shoes before I found the ones I wore! And sadly, I only returned 2 out of the 5 pairs that weren’t winners.
