If the Shoe Fits

January 28th, 2010 @ 5:13 pm by Mrs. Ribbons

With my first fitting coming up this weekend, it was time to order some shoes. I decided my color work-around would be black — re-wearable! So, the rest of my specifications were:

  • Low heel or a high heel with an ankle strap - my feet fall out of pumps otherwise
  • Satin, because I like to feel fancy
  • Under $150

Black satin shoes should be pretty easy to come by and they were, but I’m way too fussy. I only found one shoe out of millions at Zappos that I liked.

If the Shoe Fits : wedding shoes Martine Martine

Martinez Valero “Brit”

They’re black, on sale for $102, have a weird feather poof that I’m apprehensive of, but also has the needed ankle-keeper. Oh wait a second, this shoe is a little familiar…

Of course! It’s a Louboutin knock-off. Hooray.

Then I had a bit more luck on Endless.

If the Shoe Fits : wedding shoes Pink Sh pink-sh

Pelle Moda “Dynah”

I ordered these in black as well. The pink was excruciatingly cute, but unavailable. I know it violates my high heel=ankle strap rule, but I felt I could make an exception for a mule. And let’s just admit it, it’s also a blatant rip off of a Louboutin heel. It’s also Mrs. Peep Toe’s icon!

The last shoe I ordered was something a bit more traditional/classic, and bless it, with a low heel.

If the Shoe Fits : wedding shoes Ninacu nina+cu

Nina “Culver”

The goal is to have one pair stay on my foot while walking across the apartment. I have freakishly narrow heels, so we shall see.

Did you try to strike a balance between practical foot needs and hot shoes?

Always. That fine line between “yes I can wear it again” vs. “too hot to ignore and say no to” is a war I wage when it comes to cocktail dresses or now..with our wedding!

Love that Brit! It’s such a pretty shoe. Martinez Valero is a shoe designer after my heart! And their knockoffs of the sex n the city shoe is awesome.

Now I am holding my breath to see which shoes are in the sequal in May!

Love that black shoe..you’d rock it!!! I say go for it!

Wooo black wedding shoes!! I seriously considered buying black shoes, but found the *perfect* pair of green, pointy toe pumps and I knew I had to get them. Can’t wait to see what you choose! Oh, and I have really narrow and long feet so shoe buying can be tricky for me, too.

Would inserts of some sort help the shoe stay on?

Yay for black shoes, I’m wearing them as well. That last shoe is beautiful, pretty much exactly what I’ve been looking for. Of course, they don’t have my size. :)

I love that first pair! I tried on those Ninas at a few different stores and they were so cute but cut into my foot really bad. I hope they work for you!

@cutemommie: Heel grippers sometimes work for me, you might want to try that!
@Miss Spaniel: Sometimes!
@sherrio: They’re also on the Ninas website!

What do you think of these?!

http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/browse/product.jsp?maxRec=14&pageId=1&productId=560000468&viewAll=&prd=Satin+Bow+Heel&subCatId=&color=&fromSearch=&inSeam=&posId=14&catId=cat210019&cat=Shoes&onSale=&colorFamily=&maxPg=1&size=

this particular pair is new at WHBM but our pumps tend to be pretty comfortable since they have a slight platform and are definitely versatile since they are so classic! sign up for the free Black Book membership and get free shipping plus 10% off your first order. Or just pop into one of our stores!

p.s. i’m not a soliciting vendor or anything i just work at my local WHBM and love helping ladies find the right pieces :)

I got this shoe for my bridesmaids. Seems to be similar, and affordable!

I have freakishly narrow heels too!! My trick is to put a heel gripper in the heel of the shoe and a pad under the ball of my foot to push my foot back. Also, I found a BEAUTIFUL pair of shoes at DSW by a company called Caparros and they put this little piece of elastic across the heel part of the shoe (perpendicular to your foot) that helps immensely!!! My bff told me White House/Black Market has this in some of their shoes too.

Here’s a pair of Caparros: http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/product.jsp?index=3&sort=&category=&prodId=dsw11prod420018&brand=300070
See the little elastic band in the heel?

The Ninas are super cute! I’m looking for a low heel, too—I don’t wanna have to change shoes during the night.

those are cute! i went for a higher heel than i typically do, but it’s got a nice solid heel so hopefully i won’t flounder.

I love the first ones. I normally wear high heels but wanted something sensible so was looking for red heels under 3 inches but higher than 2, peep toe, and classic. One day, soon after we decided to start planning the wedding, I got an email for sales at different stores and found the shoe I wanted! It was 2 3/4 inches high, red peep toe, with a florette in the front. It was also on sale for $23! I scooped it up before we picked a venue, date, wedding party or anything else for the wedding! It was the best purchase.
