About Ms. Stripes

A Side of Yum.

January 29th, 2010 @ 5:30 pm by Ms. Stripes

A few more words on food. sigh. I think in my next blogger life I’ll have to write about it in all its delicious glory, I love it so much!

So you’ll remember from earlier that we’re having the BEST taco truck ever cater our wedding, but just what other yumminess will we have for our guests?

We’re thinking that during the cocktail hour we’d love to have a delicious table of cheese/fruit/jam. I imagine it will look like this:

On the budget front, we’re thinking of asking a friend (or two) to be in charge of the cocktail hour spread. The setup will be pretty minimal and I don’t feel terrible asking a friend to donate an hour of time at our wedding to making sure our guests are stuffed with delicious cheese! And not to worry—drinking on the job will be encouraged! I look out for my friends like that!

On the drinks front (the specific details of which will require their own post) we’re going pretty simple: beer, wine, Mexi-Coke, and a signature, which due to our venues rules requires it be made of beer/wine. Sake is wine right? Anyhoo…

Something like these:

A Side of Yum. : wedding food 33 3

We want the food/drink to be laid-back with a French garden party feel. You know—simple, delicious, and yet a little decadent. Mmmmmm…

While Kogi serves up the tacos/burritos/yum we’ll probably provide a few simple salads to go along with it all. Something along these lines:

A Side of Yum. : wedding food 43 4

source

So there you have a very pretty summary of the deliciousness to be had at our wedding. You bet your ass I’ll be eating. A lot.

Are you looking forward to any particular food/drink at your wedding?

Ooohhhhhh can I come to your wedding, PLEASE? I’m having a foodgasm just at the words and the pictures.

We’re doing the amazing beautiful glass beverage jars too - just found out there’s a rental place in Seattle that does them for only $15 each!

We did the cheese/fruit option for our happy hour. Shockingly, despite overestimating how much people would eat, we were cleaned out in like 45 minutes!

I think this will be awesome!

Seriously… can I come? :)
I’m totally looking forward to the goat cheese ravioli at our wedding, but only because it sounds more exciting than other wedding food I’ve had. ;)

@bellenga: Could be wrong, but I believe it’s Mexican Coca-Cola (made with real cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup) and it’s MUCH better than AmeriCoke!

Just a thought…but since you are doing tacos albeit, Asian style tacos from the looks. Maybe you could do a play off that with a sangria (which is made with wine) and maybe try it with sake instead?? I’m not sure how it will taste but hey, it’s always fun to play mixologist when you can drink your experiements!
