Looking for Love…

Looking for Love... : wedding relationships Bsetmef

Source

A few months ago, a group of the bees put in their two cents in a relationship series. Of particular interest to me was when a bunch of the ladies were asked to respond to the question of whether or not they were actively looking for love when they met their fiancé.

Well now… for me… I would have to say no!

Don’t you love how things like that happen? When Mr. Buttons and I met, I was completely submerged in the application process for graduate school. I had decided that August that I would begin taking my tests (grrr those GREs are just AWFUL…anyone else out there with me???), filling out pages and pages of applications, writing essays, and the like. There were 18 applications in total (yes, I am indeed insane…).

Ah… a picture taken on the day that I first spotted Mr. Buttons… I was pretty content taking my pups on outings to the beach to blow off some steam… I wasn’t looking for a man! My two little furbabies were enough for me…

At first, when we met, I was under the assumption that our relationship wouldn’t really go anywhere (ouch!). I could tell he was a great guy, and I loved spending time with him ever since our first date, but I knew that I was going to inevitably be moving out of the state to attend school if I was accepted. I suppose I had an “ending date” stamped on our relationship… because honestly… who in their right mind would want to be in a serious relationship with me knowing that they’d be packing up and moving a few months down the road?

Looking for Love... : wedding relationships Jk

Thankfully, I was wrong about that! Mr. Buttons quickly changed my perspective on things. In the end, I decided to simply let things progress naturally (which was not my first instinct… I was so worried that he or I would hurt the other’s feelings). And, as you can probably tell, the relationship took off, and here we are today! I still pinch myself sometimes because I feel like I’m dreaming to have someone in my life who loves me enough to pick up and move across the country with me. I can’t imagine my life playing out any differently!

So what about you… were you looking for love when you met your significant other, or did he/she pop up out of nowhere?

I was not looking actively for love, I was actually really enjoying being single and living by myself, but the second Mr. N and I started hanging out again, that all changed very quickly!

Great post. I, on the other hand, kinda was looking for love, as I met hubs on Yahoo Personals! Haha…but really, it worked out great, way better than I would have imagined, so that’s what really matters.

p.s.
When I first scrolled past your picture on the beach, it looked like you wear wearing a bathing suit and furry boots, and I was really confused! then i realized they were pups…haha!! =)

I was not actively looking either, AT ALL. I had just started a new job, moved, got a new room mate, and was so not in the dating zone. Mr. Clementine was charming from day one, and I was mean. Lol, no honestly, I played hard to get. I am so glad Mr. C did not let me icy exterior keep him from wanting to get to know me!
<3 him!

I took a self-imposed one year hiatus from dating after a horrible break up. Literally 3 days after I decided I was ready to date again I met my fiancee. Priceless, right?

When I met FI, I had just passed my registry exam in Cytology two days before and I was moving an hour away for a job in a month. I didn’t have a good history with LDRs at all, so I was kind of worried about what would happen. FI helped me to be strong about not seeing each other everday and by us trying to visit as each other as much as possible. He asked me to marry him after 15 months together and we recently moved in together!!!!

I was definitely not looking for love. I was trying to find out how to get out of another relationship that had fizzled… well Mr Helstrong essentially stole me away and I can’t imagine my life without him!!

I was definitely NOT looking as well lol. In fact the very same week of our first date I was about to swear off dating completely for a year to focus on my career and not let a relationship take up any time. It was going to be my ‘farewell to dating’ date LOL. Things did not happen that way at all, and I couldnt be happier. I guess it was in a way my farewell to dating date since right away it was ‘hello to relationship’

This reminds me of me! I was just back from spring break of my senior year of undergrad visiting a friend and taking a break from the 34 Medical school applications i was filling out ( yes i said 34!!) and my mind set at the time was that i had no idea where i would be in the country in 5 months and this is certainly not the time to start a serious relationship. but so glad that i did :)

I met Mr. Spaniel on Match.com, so I was definitely looking for… something. :) Of course, I was also getting ready to apply to law schools, and although I’d planned to stay local, I made sure he knew that if Harvard or Yale accepted me, I’d definitely be going. ;)

I wasn’t really looking for love, but I was definitely ready to start dating (after a pretty long break).

I know I’ve said it before, but you guys are too cute!

I definitely wasn’t! In fact, I was in a situation similar to yours–I had plans to live abroad for a year after graduation and then go to law school in a different state. The Dude and I almost broke up b/c of it! But I’m so glad we didn’t. :)

P.S.: When I read the title of your post, all I can think about is Buckwheat from the Little Rascals singing “Wookin’ per nub.”

I definitely was not looking for love! In fact, I thought I was already IN love! When I first laid eyes on Mr. CW, I was in a long-term relationship, but something drew my attention to him like a magnet. When Mr. CW and I became friends, I was dating someone else. Mr. CW was engaged to be married (not to me, obviously), and so we never thought it would go anywhere. Then, one day, as our relationships were falling apart around us, we kinda realized we were meant to be together - we just get each other.

Your post almost sounds like I could have written it! Except that we met in high school. We didn’t start dating until the end of my last year - so I figured it would end after the summer and I went away for college. I even warned him right at the beginning that it would probably happen that way. I was wrong!! We both fell pretty hard and he came to visit me every month I was away, and sent me homemade cookies and mixed CDs. Now we are both at the same college, final year, and we are planning our wedding :)

Nope and certainly not someone that lived 1000 miles away!

But our siblings had other ideas… and they introduced us. Although we were slow to get going, things quickly picked up and he moved across the country, then I moved across the state- and here we are!
