About Mrs. Ribbons

Bling: Required

January 30th, 2010 @ 1:15 pm by Mrs. Ribbons

My wedding day accoutrements are slowly piling up. My first stop was, naturally, Etsy.

I was looking for something shiny and perhaps a little vintage. Since my dress has so much crap going on, I’ve decided to play down my accessories quite a bit.

So I started with the hair. While I would’ve liked to get something like this:

Bling: Required : wedding accessories jewelry Jennife01 jennife01

Or this:

Bling: Required : wedding accessories jewelry Bando bando

… they’re both completely out of my budget and over the top for my look. I am wearing a poof ball, after all.

Thus, my more subdued choice:

Bling: Required : wedding accessories jewelry Loleysp loleysp

(source)

It’s from an Etsy seller called Loley’s & Co, who has a really great assortment of recycled vintage pieces. Don’t be fooled, that rhinestone is HUGE. So it’s not THAT subdued.

Anyways, the pin wasn’t the only thing that caught my eye.

I also ordered these. I adored how large the rhinestones were, as always, but I wasn’t so sure about the danglies. Nonetheless, the price was right and I decided it was good to have options.

Then today, I found these while shopping.

Bling: Required : wedding accessories jewelry Earring019 earring019

Again, they’re enormous. But I think I prefer the studs and how the shape recalls my giant round hair pin. I’ll bring both to Bloomington in June. I’m feeling more bridal by the minute. Or credit card transaction.

How are you blinging yourself out for the wedding?

Beautiful choices, Ribbons! I like how the pin matches the last earrings. I’m thinking of sticking things in my hair, but I have no idea what yet. : P

I am getting a peacock feather with a white feather behind it to clip in my hair. I hope it is not too big, waiting for it to come in the mail!

I love the hair pin and both pairs of earrings! I like the studs better than the danglies, too.

I love both of the earring choices! I like the ones that dangle, I always dig earrings with movement! I also really love the hair pins, it will add just the right amount of sparkle to your do. I am already married (but love this blog!) and I had a sparkly head band and dangle earrings and kept the rest of it pretty simple for my wedding. Great choices!!

I love big honkin’ fake studs. I’m going to rock big pearl earrings, methinks.

@Miss Parfait: I know, I feel compelled to stick sparklies in my hair but I’m not sure why :)
@OurFutureIsBright: I got them in a kate spade store, I think they were $45.
@SarahC: That’s my strategy!
@Miss Scissors: I enjoy a giant pearl stud.

Pretty! I admire your ability to go for the big. I’ve always been scared by huge pieces. I can totally get behind the rhinestones, though. Sparkle me up!

If you are any good with a hot glue gun, a packet of small rhinestones and some bobby pins is a really cost effective way of making fancy little pins to hold up an up-do. However, I’m loving the giant rhinestone, sparkle sparkle!!

My FMIL is lending me jewelry. Although it might not be what I would have picked out myself, I know it means a lot to her. So, I’m really excited about it!
