Mrs. Rainbow's Picture
Mrs. Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!
About Mrs. Rainbow

Holy crap. Is it seriously February 1st already?! My, how time flies! With exactly 8 months until the wedding, it’s time for my first official hive check-in! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can catch up on my New Years Resolution here.

Now, I generally give up on New Year’s Resolutions a few weeks in (as do most people), so I devised a way to keep myself accountable - sharing my journey with the hive! If that won’t keep me honest, nothing will! Plus, I’m hoping it’ll inspire some of you ladies to stick with your resolutions as well. We need all the support we can get, right? Right!

Okay, here goes!

Here’s my very first chart from my starting point:

Ground Zero - January 1, 2010:

  • Pounds lost: n/a (at starting point)
  • How many days I exercised this month: n/a
  • How many days I didn’t exercise this month: n/a
  • How many times I “cheated” on my diet: n/a
  • How I’m fitting in my dress: Uhm, it’s a tight fit, to say the least
  • How I’m feeling: Double Stuft
  • Notes: This is where I’ll keep you updated on any new products/videos/exercises that I’ve tried.

And here’s my chart now, exactly one month later:

Month 1- February 1, 2010:

  • Pounds lost: 7
  • How many days I exercised this month: 19
  • How many days I didn’t exercise this month: 12
  • How many times I “cheated” on my diet: 3 (whoops!)
  • How I’m fitting in my dress: A little better, but still not perfectly
  • How I’m feeling: Decent, could have done better
  • Notes: 30 Day Shred is the bomb, Power Yoga with Rodney Yee isn’t for me. I can’t do yoga while watching a man in what is essentially a diaper. Plus, his voice drives me NUTS.

First off, yes! I lost 7 pounds! My goal is 5 lbs a month, so I’m glad (and shocked) that I actually did it. I guess good ol’ diet and exercise works after all. I will admit, I haven’t been the best dieter ever. I’ve certainly been watching what I eat, but I could still stand to make healthier choices and, oh yeah, I cheated 3 times. In honor of full disclosure, here’s what my cheats were:

Bringing Sexy Back, Rainbow Style: Month 1 : wedding fitness Z20973603 pizza

Domino’s Pizza - It was thin crust, and only a medium, but I’m sure eating 3/4 of it in one sitting negates that fact…

Buffalo wings and chili cheese fries - Nothing I can say will make this seem healthier, so I won’t even try!

Bringing Sexy Back, Rainbow Style: Month 1 : wedding fitness Z20973605 godiva

source

Godiva chocolates - I’m a total sucker for Godiva, and Mr. Rainbow surprised me with a box yesterday after I got home from a photo shoot. You can’t say no to a present, right? But don’t worry, I ate all of them yesterday, you know, so I wouldn’t be tempted today… Bringing Sexy Back, Rainbow Style: Month 1 : wedding fitness Blush01 blush01

As far as exercise, I’ve been trying to mix it up because I get bored SO easily. Mr. Rainbow and I started walking/jogging. It’s difficult for me, because I have asthma, but I got an inhaler and that helps a lot. I feel like a total dork, but it’s better than keeling over and dying. I still have a wedding to take part in, after all!

I only did the Rodney Yee video once. I love yoga, and it was a really good work out, but I just couldn’t handle the diaper or his voice. The only exercise video I used was Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. That video is no joke! I’ve been sticking to level one, but now that it’s a new month, and I’m going to go up to level two, I’m scared! A few times I had to lay off level 1 a bit because there’s a lot of jumping around, and I have flat feet so it gave me really bad shin splints. I had to take a few days off from any exercise that involves my legs, so I turned to Wii Boxing… and then pulled a muscle in my arm. Ridiculous, I know. Hopefully my workout days will be higher this month, although 19 out of 31 isn’t too bad!

Overall, I’m pleased with how my first month went. I do think I could have done a little better, but at the same time, I achieved my goal and then some, so I’m not complaining. Here’s to a brand new month!

How is your resolution coming along?

Wow, you kicked ass, Rainbow! Wtg!!
Seven pounds in 1 month is excellent–and you have to cheat on your diet sometimes or you will never stick to it.

Damn girl, that’s awesome! This post came at exactly the right time for me … I just ate some gummi worms and was trying to think of an excuse to not work out today, but you’ve motivated me!

your chocolate-eating rationale made me laugh out loud:

‘But don’t worry, I ate all of them yesterday, you know, so I wouldn’t be tempted today’

I’m exactly the same way! Looks like you’ve made amazing progress though - I wish I could still to my goals half as well!

Congrats on a great month! You lost just under 2 pounds a week - that is the healthy way to do it and yet not easy! I think sharing your chart with the hive is a great idea. And you have to splurge at least once a week, in moderation, or you’ll drive yourself crazy! I’m trying to lose right along with you… but you’ve kicked ma butt this month!

Congrats for making great progress. I don’t think I could do yoga with a man in a diaper either. But if you like yoga and you obviously are okay with doing videos at home, you should check out the Biggest Loser yoga with Bob. He is not annoying in a weird, hippy yoga loving way and the workout actually is kinda hard. I love it and I hate yoga!

This post reminded me of Bridget Jones’ Diary — the book, not so much the movie. She buys a box of “Milk Tray” (some sort of British chocolates that I’m unfamiliar with) and then eats them all in one sitting so that she can have a “fresh start” the next day. I always think of that book whenever I’m trying to rationalize stuffing my face with candy.

Your posts inspired me to get the 30-Day Shred… just ordered it off Amazon! I do Wii Fit a few days, but need something harder, so I thought I’d do Jillian three days a week and mix it up with some Wii. Hopefully I don’t pull any arm muscles :) Congrats on the first 7!

Check out Exercise on Demand (I live in Orlando w/ Brighthouse) it has different videos that will kick your butt when your tired of 30day shred. I did one of Bobs boot camps today and although its not as hard its a darn good workout. Good luck I love 30 day shred!

You’re doing such a great job! I’ve had asthma my whole life and I know how hard it can be to consistently exercise when you always have that fear of having a breathing problem pop up. Some of the best advice I’ve ever gotten was from an asthma doctor years ago who said that doing a good warm-up and cool-down will prevent a lot of asthma incidents.

Awesome job!!!! :) You have a lot to be proud of. Oh, and I totally would have use the same logic with the Godiva — “If I just eat it all now, at least I’ll just have *one* bad diet day rather than two in a row, right?”
