Faking the Makeup Trial Part Two

February 2nd, 2010 @ 3:16 pm by Mrs. Ribbons

Inspired by Miss Scissors’ makeup post, I decided to confront my last DIY make-up trial. While it wasn’t the most dreadful thing ever, it also wasn’t yummy.

So, armed with a few new products, I’ve made progress. Here’s how I started.

Faking the Makeup Trial Part Two : wedding makeup trial Makeup makeup-

I was already in my after work glitter sweats, sorry. Things to note: my light eyebrows, my pale-osity, and me forgetting to auto tone the photo. Here’s how I cleaned up.

Better, yes? I realize it looks like one of those weight loss ads where the “before” picture is poorly lit and dingy and the “after” is all bright and glorious. But I seriously didn’t do any more Photoshopping than what is journalistically acceptable!

Here’s what I added to my original list.

I broke down and lined my top lid, just because the previous attempt left my eyes severely lacking. I’m liking it a lot more and I think it’ll come together once I have my hair done. It’s hard to get the whole picture when I’m wearing a sweatshirt and my hair is not what you’d call clean.

Are you doing multiple “trials” for your DIY makeup?

Love the after look! It’s nice to see a look for paler skins.
I’m planning on DIYing my makeup too so I’ll be trying out different looks to see what works.
Can’t wait to see the whole look together!

I’m going to be testing out various foundations and primers. My skin is oily and sensitive, so although I’m having it done professionally, I figured I would suss out the base makeup that won’t slide, shine or make me break out beforehand.

Lovely!

It looks great - did you use the Benefit Posie Tint on both your lips and cheeks?

I was actually going to say that I like your hair as much as your makeup. The sideswept bangs and slight bump make it look a bit like you’ve got a Joan Halloway-esque up-do (little bit of ponytail notwithstanding).

great job! I like the liner too. I seriously don’t have the patience to DIY my make-up on the big day, but you’re totally going to do great! I can see it already.

I’m so bookmarking this! I’m DIYing my own makeup as well and plan on buying some stuff on Thursday and then hiding in the bathroom with loads of remover wipes. I only hope my makeup comes out as well as yours!

You look beautiful! The cheeks and lips together are not overpowering. I love posie tint! The lip color will contrast well to a wedding dress.

Pinks are fabulous for you! The rosy cheek and the pink lip look ridiculously good on you, in my opinion!
