I’m gettin’ marrrrrrrrrrried. I’m gettin’ marrrrrrrrrried! *cabbage patch dance* I hopped out of bed at 5:30 in the morning to prep the room for the girls’ arrival at 6 (bless their hearts for being morning troopers). In hopes of beating the heat, Mr Piglet and I scheduled our morning ceremony at 11 am. I booked Dorys Foltin for my pretty ladies, and with 6 of us, we needed a couple hours to get our hair did and faces on.
Dorys and her assistant knocked on the door promptly at 6. The girls came minutes after. After a quick bouncy hug, the girls took their seats and Dorys went to town.

As I watched them work their magic, I was sort of in a daze, still a bundle of nerves. To calm me down, I would occasionally walk onto the balcony to breathe in the fresh ocean air, eat my breakfast burrito from (none other than) Zippy’s, and soak in the beautiful view.

I stared like a little girl watching her mom put on makeup as Dorys airbrushed their faces, applied individual lashes, and secured mini-bundles of dendrobium orchids in their hair. Wow, I had some gorgeous ladies by my side! Especially, ESPECIALLY, my sister Jen. She was seriously a knock out. Ordinarily, she wears little to no makeup. She’s a hardcore tomboy (e.g., tore her ACL playing football shortly after the wedding), and after the finishing touches were applied, we all looked at her, jaws dropped, as if she was getting married. She was glowing! That’s her on the top right. See what I mean?

Soon enough, it was my turn. I took my seat, and made sure to point out my crispy pimple that needed some cover-up, though no ID was needed because it was pretty darn noticeable. Airbrushing works wonders! That stuff stayed on from 8 in the morning until 11 at night. Impressive.

I was most excited about my lash fakies. My microscopic lashes weren’t going to cut it that day.

It was more makeup then I had ever worn before. At my request, and my friend’s recommendation, I asked Dorys to do everything a bit more dramatic than what she had done for my H&M trial.

All done up, I took at look at my reflection, slightly worried it was a bit too much. Jen approved, and those concerns were washed away.

And before we knew it, our time with Dorys was up. Before leaving, she showed Jen and Min how to secure the veil. We walked her out, and thanked her a million times over. She was an absolute doll to work with.

Soon after Dorys’s departure, Ally from Yvonne Floral knocked on the door to drop off our gorgeous bouquets. It’s so nice to finally meet the people you’ve corresponded with for months over email. I hugged her as if she was a long lost friend.

With an hour to spare, it was time to relax and regain composure before the ceremony. Jen sat us all down, and unveiled a card from Mr Piglet. At his request, I began to read it aloud. To the most beautiful bridesmaids to grace this island. Thank you all for being there for Piglet. That’s about as far as I got. The tears started welling up, and my attempts to wave it dry didn’t seem to be working. Q-tips to the rescue!

I handed the card off to Min to read.

Success! I managed to hold in the tears as she read it through.

Unlike my bestie Bonnie, who was pretty much a mess from this point forward.

I tore open the gift, and showed off the blingy pair of studs from my handsome stud.

I took off my current pair thinking, this is why he was trying to give me hairdo tips. I wish I had caught on. Shopping for earrings could’ve been one less to do the day before.

After gushing over the earrings, I sipped on some PowerBar gel Mr Piglet had thrown into my overnight bag.

And the girls did some final primping. It’s amazing how a little blush/bronzer can give the illusion of cleavage on us small chested girls.

Then, it was my turn. Not wanting to flash Ben, I turned around and begged Bonnie to not peek, either. Heehee.

Zipped up and tied, I was ready for the veil.

Min followed the steps Dorys had walked her through an hour before. I wiggled the clip back and forth and was confident this thing wasn’t flying anywhere.

Wow, this is it. I’m getting married. Why can’t I stop crying? I was a big ball of emotions.

Ready to go, I took one last sip to stay hydrated before walking in the heat.

And out the door we went.
