When I’m stressed, bored, overwhelmed, or any other unfavorable emotion, I pass the time on Style.com—it’s the online version of Vogue. I browse the recent runway shows and I always seem to find something that cheers me up and makes my heart beat a little faster. I absolutely love fashion. A great jacket or a perfect dress can get me out of my rut in no time.
So, when I’m feeling overwhelmed with my own wedding, it’s only natural for me to head over to Style and see what’s gracing the runways. This time though, I did something a little different—I didn’t look at the clothes, I looked at the makeup.
You know how, when you’re in the middle of planning a wedding, you find wedding inspiration everywhere you look? Well, that’s exactly what happened. The look at Gucci was so fresh and bridal, it had me inspired… what if the models were getting made up for their weddings, as opposed to a runway show?
I found inspiring make-p looks from a handful of designers and ran with it. Here’s the result:

The Classic Bride- She’s getting married at her parents’ big beautiful house, wearing a lacy Monique Lhuillier and white satin Louboutins.
Her style icons are Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O. Her colors? Warm white, blush with a hint of peach, and antiqued gold. Her flowers are immaculate, her cake is stunning yet simple, and her chairs are Chivari (of course).

The Edgy Bride- She’s going to the chapel, albeit a black one. Would you expect anything less? Her bridesmaids are perfectly mismatched and look straight out of a magazine. She accessorizes her dress with a black sash, fishnets, and sky high heels. She carries a bouquet of red anemones tied with a black ribbon and a “something blue” brooch. Her colors are almost black, rich dark red, and aqua (because her mom insisted it not look like a funeral).

The Earthy Bride- She’s getting married under the old oak tree that she and her fiance used to play in as children. Their reception is in a rustic old barn, replete with vintage furniture. Her cake is covered in delicious, homemade buttercream and her paper products are all recycled, and yes, plantable. Her hair is flowy, just like her dress, and her flowers are wild and perfectly imperfect—just as she planned. Her colors are true brown, grass green, and sea glass.
What do you do when you’re wound up? Have you found inspiration in surprising places?
