When we reentered the barn after taking a few post-wedding pics, the room had been transformed from our ceremony space into a magical English garden wonderland.

My Uncle Tommy announced us as we entered the barn. Our friends and family clapped and cheered as we made our first appearance as husband and wife—what a rush!

We’d planned on doing the first dance before dinner to get it out of the way. So, after a couple minutes of mingling, the Dude and I stepped out into the center of the room as our iPod played this song.

It took awhile for people to catch on that we were dancing, which was good! Less time to be the center of attention! As I said earlier, we’d barely practiced our dance the night before. We played it pretty safe, swaying back and forth with a spin every now and then for effect. I kept having to tell the Dude to slow down—I guess he was too nervous/excited to keep the beat.

Pretty soon the song was over, and our coordinator, Rick, was asking me what I wanted to drink. My friend Andi came up to give me a hug and then tucked a piece of my hair that was falling down back into place. Seriously, there is nothing like being a bride. Enjoy it!

We got to mingle with our guests for a little longer as staff finished preparing dinner. Kind of an impromptu cocktail hour, though it couldn’t have been more than 15-20 minutes.

Next up: Dinner and our biggest surprise of the night!
