An optimist at heart, my motto is to turn your "what ifs?" into "so whats!". My fiance is a radio producer and the biggest Cubs fan you'll meet - our apartment decor definitely shows it. We are planning an intimate wedding in the Virgin Islands and a cocktail party in June for 150 of our closest friends.
About Mrs. Nachos

This past weekend, I played around with the Hershey’s Kisses stickers some more. The sheets of labels are small, only 4×6 sheets, and they recommend using the envelope feeder on your printer. Mine doesn’t have a feeder, just a lever I can move over. So I put in my first sheet of labels, crossed my fingers and hit print. All of them were just slightly off, enough to where the black circles that was supposed to run along the outside edge was getting cut off. So I went back to my template, scootched them all over a little, and put in another sheet of labels. And the same thing happened… it was like I never went back and tweaked them at all! So instead of wasting ANOTHER sheet of labels, I peeled off the circles I had printed on and ran it through without the stickers after repositioning AGAIN. And this is what I got…

Closer, but they were still getting cut off just a smidge at the top. I felt like Miss Buttons and wanted to rip them up and throw them out the window. But no, just like with my flip flop bedazzling, I was determined. Me, give up? NEVER!

I figured if I took the outside circle off of my design…

… the positioning wouldn’t have to be so accurate. So I started with a fresh template and recreated the design over the template without the circle. If you remember, I originally made the design in Power Point and saved it as a JPEG. This time, when I decided to actually make them in Word, I zoomed in really close on the template so I could see what I was doing a little better. And I had, as Oprah would call it, an AHAH! moment.

Every circle in the template is off just an itty bit. So I moved all the circles of the actual template over a tad and finished making my full sheet. I also added some color to them, printed them out, and….

(are you envious of my sweet MS Paint skills? I’m kind of a whiz with the paintbrush)

They’re still not quite centered and I realized 1. it could have been the boxes on the template that were off, not the circles, and 2. it totally depends on how my printer grabs the paper. Since my printer asked me to stop yelling at it, I decided to accept it for its flaws and be OK with the labels a little off. I think it makes them quirky. Yeah, that’s it, quirky. And honestly, I don’t think anyone is going to be critiquing the stickers on the bottom of our Hershey’s Kisses. If they do, I’d love to see them make these any better.

Did you have any DIY projects turn out less than perfect? Were you still happy with them?

So cute!! No one will notice that they’re not quite centered. Great job!!

I tried doing something similar for my now SIL, except I used the Cricut to cut the circles instead of using the Avery labels. So, I would print the sheet full of circles first, feed it into my Cricut, and cut. It was so frustrating that a little human error would cause the centeredness (yes, that is a word I have invented) to be so off and noticeable. I eventually got it close enough and settled for a little imperfection. ;)

Labels are extremely hard to center perfectly. I made monogram labels and settled for “close enough.”

I LOVE this idea and personally, I think the first thing people will notice is how cute they are and then be too busy ripping off the wrapper to eat their chocolate kiss to notice any imperfection!

Has anyone tried their hand at water bottle labels? I love the idea of DIY’ing them, but I haven’t been able to find any websites explaining what kind/size labels to use (I’d think they need to be water-proof or water-resistant, and not sure how that works out with personal at-home printer…)

What fallingsnow said. I’d notice how cute it was and then shove the chocolate in my mouth. I love them! Good job, Nachos. :)

I’m having the same problem!!! Why is this so difficult? I’m trying to make round labels for my OOT bags. I keep adjusting in the template, to no avail. I wish there was a fix for this… I may do what you did — take the circle border off of my monogram design so it’s less noticeable that they’re not centered. Argh! I feel your pain, Miss Nachos!

I don’t think anyone would notice. Sometimes you just have to let the printer win and call it a day (I had a minor melt down when my laser printer started eating my Save the date envelopes). They are beyond adorable!

Very Cute!!! I made these too, but put pictures of our dog on them! I was looking for a way to incorporate him into the wedding, and this was a hit! I plan on doing these for an upcoming baby shower and putting baby pictures of the parents on them!

I hate printers! They suck! I think your labels turned out close enough, though. Honestly, I think the only way to get them perfect would be to just print them onto a regular sheet of cardstock, cut them out into circles, and then run them through a Xyron.

I had made these for a friend’s wedding a few years ago. We ended up printing them on 8.5×11 sheets of label paper, then using a circle punch to cut them out.

those look great! honestly, don’t worry about the fraction of the millimeter that it’s off. taking off the outer circle means that it’s really not noticeable. awesome job!

It took me a little while to get to the point where I said “if they think they can do it better, let them” but I was so glad when I realized that people would love the idea whether it was perfect or a little “quirky”. And girl, those will be some addddddorable kisses!

i think they look great! no one will notice, for sure. i felt like my first save the date project was a complete failure, but it was all about my expectations. i had high hopes.. it being the first project and all. after that, ever single project following was flawed. i just didn’t care anymore! :)

These still look great, and I’m sure nobody will notice! Sometimes it’s just not worth the time to be a perfectionist!
