Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.

So Hard to Say Goodbye

February 5th, 2010 @ 2:11 pm by Mrs. Poodle

OK, so I can truly say that every time I read abut brides being so attached to their invitations I thought they were crazy. Until — I became one of them!

When we sent our Save the Dates I was so relieve that the task was done and maybe just because they were not much work I had no feelings when we let them go. But now it’s totally different!!

Yesterday, MIL B and I went to the post office to ask about hand canceling them, because well, I did spend 2 WHOLE DAYS sewing those little Kraft envelopes. The Post Office guy said that there was no difference between just sending them normally hand canceling, so I believed him and painfully handed them over.

The funny part was that I sent a Save the Date to one of my friends in Chile that never got there, and when he saw our invites he asked me if we were the same people. He actually remembered us because the design of our STDs were so similar to our invites. That was pretty cool!

Anyway, here’s my face after letting them go!

Notice those empty containers? Well this is how they looked minutes before:

I wanted to get a lot of vintage stamps to go with our pretty wrap-around labels, but all the ones I found had crazy colors or I needed like 10 of them to make the 44 cents, so in the end I ordered the normal ring stamp (after all, I’ll never use that particular stamp again :P ) and since I could only get them in sheets of 25, I got 100 ring stamps, pretty lighthouses for the other 12, and normal 98 cent stamps for our international invitees.

I selected all of the single men we had on our list and gave them the lighthouse.

Did I mention I sewed labels for 2 days? … OK, just checking!

And the last little detail was the return address stamp I ordered from JLMould!

I totally loved it, even though I have to work on my stamping skills :P – Well actually, since I ordered the stamp without the clear block, it was a little harder to find something to put the stamp on.

So, the final moment came, and after working so hard on the invites (I’ll show off the actual invitation in my next post!!) it was kind of sad to send them away, but at the same time I’m super excited for them to get to their destinations soon!! Hopefully we’ll get good reactions from our guests!

How did you feel when you sent off your invitations?

Those labels look great! And yes, I was sad to let my STDs go, and anticipate being even sadder to send off my invites!

Beautiful job, Ms. Poodle! (per the usual–LOL). The stitch looks so unique and beautiful–like little hearts– on the invitation; how did you do that? Did you use a setting on your machine? Are you guys getting snow right now in Crestline? (It’s raining down here in the valley). We are getting married up in Big Bear at a strictly outdoor venue on Oct. 2, and I’m a little worried about a ‘plan B’ should the weather be bad. Do you have a ‘rainy day’ plan?

Hand sewing! Wow! I didn’t even know that was possible. Our STDs go out soon - I know I’ll be glad to see them gone :-)

Hi,

Love the labels and the envelopes!! Is that computer-generated calligraphy? Love that, too!! I am using envelope wrap labels also. But, calligraphy isn’t in the budget. Can you please tell me the name of the font that you used?

I guess it was either or for you. The vintage stamps are time-consuming. I went that route for the STDs and will be using again for invites. So visually appealing!! We also got a return address stamp from Etsy.

Congrats!!
