Mrs. Hot Wings's Picture
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
About Mrs. Hot Wings

I just saw this on planning… forever events blog and am stunned that this happened! And indeed, I agree with them that having professional bartenders that know when to cut off the drunk people is important, lest this happens.

For a good laugh (or gasp), check out these two threads on the boards.

Now I’m curious: do you have any drunken wedding guest stories to share?

Oh dear! that poor bride Miss Hot Wings! Yea I see this is why you gotta have an experienced bartender to cut some off. I am a believer in cutting people off too. Here’s one crazy story from my college days.

I was a guest at a wedding and my former college boyfriend (my junior year in college) was a groomsman. They (he, the groom and other groomsmen) apparently extended the bachelor party until an hour before the ceremony.

They were still a touch (I drove myself to the wedding but all the guys came in a limo..thankfully) tipsy when the wedding began and the best man (who was supposed to have the ring) couldn’t find it and all the other groomsmen had to check their pockets. it was kinda obvious they were tipsy, and the entire church congregation snickered while the poor bride sneered.

Oh that is so sad. I actually screamed when the tent came down and then when I saw the bride my heart just sank—pooor thing.

We are getting married over Labor Day weekend and although we aren’t going to have a bartender, don’t have a lot of drinkers, we are going to have some beer available. No keg, just some bottles and then other non-alcoholic drinks. We are just doing our part to limit the alcohol even provided due to lots of DUI check points over that holiday weekend.

OMG I can’t believe this happened! That poor bride….and wow that girl is going to have this looming over her head for years to come. A wise bartender will be a must on our day!

O…M…G!!! Yes, a wise bartender is key, but the person that’s really to blame is that wedding guest from hell!!! Wonder if anyone from the wedding still talks to her! At least they have a good video to show in court in case a lawsuit is pending :)

Hah! I would be so angry!

At my cousin’s wedding, Mr. Library and I started to notice that my cousin’s new MIL was dancing like she had had one too many. We didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to it because she was with her other relatives. That is… until she started hitting on Mr. Library! She came over and started rubbing her hands over his face, saying how adorable he was. I still laugh about it!

@Curlysue: good thinking ahead!
@Miss Rainbow: seriously right.
@Ms. Library: Was she embarrassed afterward?
@EMARILU: So actually, I read somewhere that this was actually a fake staged video. Not sure if that is true or not, but I certainly hope it is. I would feel sooo bad otherwise.

I recently attended a wedding where the ceremony was at the same location as the reception (due to a beach wedding being rained out). Therefore they ended up opening the bar before the ceremony had even started.

A friend of mine gets really drunk really easily, and is a bit of a party girl, so no one was too surprised (although everyone was fairly upset) that when the officiant said ‘if you know of any reason why this man and woman should not be joined, speak now’, and she screamed out “I love you Jeff!” to the groom…. Luckily after an awkward silence the officiant continued anyway.

Oh my god, I don’t think I’d be as calm as the bride in the video if anyone did something like that at my wedding. No one wants to be a bloody bride!

@Miss Hot Wings: oh yeah, she definitely meant it as a joke - but it was not a good time to do it.

yikes!

the worst drunk wedding guest story i witnessed was probably about 10 years ago. i was someone’s guest so i didn’t know anyone else at the small wedding and we were seated pretty far from the head table. sitting next to us was a woman who had obviously been the bride’s good friend through childhood. i say “was” because she seemed to believe they were still very close and she was incredibly angry that she was not in the wedding party (which only included the bride’s sister and her roommate from college who she was still living with until she got engaged). between glasses of wine, she loudly announced to all of us at the table that she and Bride were best friends growing up and she always knew she would be in her wedding, she knows her parents and her grandmother (she made a point to then talk loudly to the bride’s grandmother who was in a wheelchair and could not escape her). but, once Bridesmaid came into the picture she took the Bride to the dark side and Bride became evil and slutty, etc etc. and Bridesmaid clearly tricked her into being in the wedding.

it was incredibly uncomfortable for all of us!!! i am sure she had some legitimate issues with the friendship, but this was NOT the place to air them! i hope the bride never found out.

Hahaha I’m with @Kori! I REALLY love wine and take full advantage of free wine during weddings. I’m usually drunk before the salads are served. Whoopsie! I’m always (mostly) in control of myself. I just giggle and dance and have a good time.
