Mrs. Cheeseburger's Picture
Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PA Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Engagement Date: June 28, 2008 Wedding Date: March 2010 Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel Reception About Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
About Mrs. Cheeseburger

Programs are something that I had always wanted to DIY. After seeing all the inspiration around on the hive, initially it was hard to decide which direction to go in.

A looooong time ago, when my love affair with Weddingbee began, Mrs. Bell Pepper had a lot to do with it! Probably because her color scheme was so similar to mine, and alright, because I though it was super neat that she was planning her wedding during residency. I swooned over her awesome fan programs for years (seriously - years, this chick was ahead of her time):

Love. :) But, since I need to make a bajillion programs, I started looking into other options that did not require such serious scissor usage.

I found these seeming simple options on the knot:

Adventures in Programs: Inspiration : wedding programs Large I

Adventures in Programs: Inspiration : wedding programs Sf

Super cute and relatively easy to make, no?

But then, like so many of you have, I found some programs that I couldn’t get out of my head - designed by our very own, uber-talented Mrs. Cupcake!

So perfectly pocket-sized and incredibly accordion … I knew I had found our program design!

Alas, the beauty of her custom cut program cover perplexed me. How does one acquire such a rare beast and how much is it going to cost? After some research (primarily on Cards & Pockets - I tend to stick to what I know), I realized that I could get any shape I wanted, in any paper I wanted, cut to order! Victory!

Then, I promptly realized that the paper would be blank, and that I didn’t have a Gocco or another fancy way of printing on my awesome custom-shaped paper. Hmph. Fail.

[Sidebar: ohhh the Gocco debate. I’ve had this debate approximately 5 times. Should I buy one? Restrain yourself, Cheeseburger. Should I borrow one? From who - the Gocco Fairy Godmother? Should I pay a more talented bee who has a Gocco to do this for me? Probably the best option here. Ultimately, I restrained from purchasing or using a Gocco for my DIY projects, but that’s not to say I still don’t regret it every now and then... anyway, back to programs.]

So, I was at a crossroads. What to do, what to do? Well, lucky for me, fate intervened. You see, I had always wanted to make circular menus, a la (who else?!) Mrs. Bell Pepper, for our reception tables. I had already purchased a bunch of 5.5″ circle cards from Paper Source in sage, and I was ready to crank this project out on some rainy day or another. Welp, it turns out there are no plates or chargers at the place settings at our venue, and I certainly wasn’t paying to get them just so that I could create a menu to put on them! Nothankyouverymuch.

So, our round wedding programs were born! No, they’re not very typical of a wedding program, and they probably won’t fit in your pocket, either. But I think they’re going to be cute, and I love that they saved me from wasting 300 circle cards . :)

Now get ready for part two: graphic design - Cheeseburger style (i.e. with Microsoft Office products only, because I know nothing about graphic design)!

Where did you get your program inspiration?

I keep forgetting about programs, thanks for the reminder. I love Mrs. Cupcake’s too! And I’ve had that same debate a million times, wherein one discovers that the idea one is careening towards has not included the necessity of figuring out how to print the thing. So wait, though, how are you going to print on round cards?

Yea for Bee inspiration! I thought about doing fan programs but now I’m thinking it’s going to take too much time and seriously, our whole wedding is going to last all of 20 minutes. I don’t even know what I’d put on them. And I, too, am a Microsoft graphic designer. MS Paint is my fave :)

I love the accordion! We’re still deciding if we even want to do one and how. We want to do something a bit more fun.

And, by “more fun” I mean something that is more than just a one-sheeter. But who knows!

I hear you on the gocco debate — I’ve gone back and forth a few times myself on that one. Oh, and I’ve also considered Yudu. Gah.

Good luck on the programs! I know they’ll be fab.

We’re doing these programs too! The covers are going to be rectangle with rounded corners, though, and we are getting a copy place to cut the paper for us :)

I can’t wait to see the final product! And I too have had the gocco debate (and circut and cuddlebug), but I’ve remained strong for the moment!

gaaaah sorry I’m so late guys!

glad so many people love cupcake’s programs as well!
@Miss Hamster: & @gill84: & @Miss Nachos: & @Miss Chicken Wing: hahaha soooo love microsoft office suite (and paint, too!)… for these programs I actually “branched out” and used publisher! Living dangerously over here :)

@LittlestBirds: yes, you picked up on that!! you’ll just have to wait and see, it’s in my next installment! Don’t worry, it’s nothing majorly complicated ;)

@Miss Cola: haha yess, power to the witholders… although I end up spending money at kinkos which I HATE doing, but c’est la vie.

@daniellemybelle: omg! nice!!

@mrspaetz: trifolds are NOT lazy!! I bet they are great :)

@amanda.lynn: there are definitely pros and cons to rounds, you’ll see! :)
