About Mrs. Buttons

So… we have the suit selected… but what ever shall we accompany it with?

I decided to begin with ties, and quickly realized that there are so freaking many to choose from! And then there is the question: do you buy the same tie for all of the groomsmen, or do we switch it up a little bit for each?

After some thought, I decided that I liked the idea of mixing and matching. As one of my idols, Stacy London, would say, “it doesn’t have to MATCH, it has to GO.” I decided to search for different ties, but in similar colors.

First stop?

Where else… TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. I’m predictable, what can I say? And boy, was I lucky! I stumbled upon a plethora of green and blue ties at both stores… for $9.99 a piece. I was able to snag a bunch in different patterns. I think they all go together really well, and I love that they aren’t “matchy matchy” like they would have been if I had purchased the same tie for all of the dudes! So… what do you think?

How did you pick your ties out (for those of you who chose suits)?

very nice! We’re doing suits, but going to have the guys in matching solid ties. I hadn’t thought about mixing it up any. Definitely adds some interest to just a solid tie.

Oh, I love that idea. ( And I love Stacy and Clinton. They make me want to look pretty even when going to the laundromat.)

I was looking at cool screen-printed ties on Etsy but the FI wasn’t particularly excited that he could get cool retro prints on his tie. Space Invaders anybody? I think some cheap but interestingly mismatched ties might sway him.

Very nice! We just chose Mr Moo’s tie (and suit!) today. It was a choice of 3 and he picked the one he liked best. I have no idea what we’ll do for his BM though.

We did this same thing for our guys, now my groom just has to decide if he wants to go solid black or “match” his guys in their mismatched but totally coordinated ties!

Awesome idea!!! You’re now making me rethink my matchy matchy idea- Stacy and Clinton would be soo ashamed of me =( And I LOVE the paisley tie in the middle!

Love the ties! What a great idea—-I love that they coordinate, but don’t match exactly!

@BrianneG: Oh I know, right? I can’t leave the house without putting myself together a bit….they are such influences haha!

@Mrs. Lamb: It was easier than I thought it would be…I got realllly lucky!

@Miss Pug: its like modern-day hunting. I don’t hunt for wild boars, I hunt for clothes and accessories!

@marcam882: I loooove that tie too! I am hoping Mr. B will wear that one, but he’s leaning towards the stripe one to the left of it….punk!

I love the idea of similar color but different pattern.

Sadly my sweetie doesn’t feel the same so he’s getting them identical ties.

YES!! Coordinate - not “matchy, matchy”…

I like the ties.
