First, I’m sorry to delay this post so long, and thank you for sticking with me on the where-in-the-world-will-they-go saga!
OK, so when I last left you, I’d given you some rather hilarious teaser pictures of some seriously gorgeous locations here.
So, what were those places?

The first picture was from this lovely little (only 90 rooms!) resort called Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita.
This resort is located in Rivera Maya and boasts “Endless Privileges”.
They pick you up from the airport with champagne and towels, every room is oceanfront, and the “all-inclusive aspect includes everything (from local/organic cuisine and welcome bottle of tequila to spa access and sunset cruises on the resort catamaran). They don’t even have check in or check out times! It also costs a. lot. The most out of all we considered. And it is reportedly kinda quiet (like zero things happening after 11 PM… no bands, clubs, acoustic guitar player, nothing). They also allow children, but there’s literally nothing for them to do there and the website states that:
“Although Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts do allow families with young children, there is a very limited selection of services and amenities available to accommodate them.” Still, this seems to be a major factor in a lot of reviews since the resort is so small.

Behind cheesy couple picture no. 2: Excellence Playa Mujeres!
Yes, EPM has a real WB following. Mrs. Penguin spent her honeymoon there, as did several other hive members, and Pengy’s post is an amazing review. This resort had almost all the same all-inclusive amenities as Zoetry, but looked a bit more hip and happening. We liked this resort a lot, and it had excellent reviews. Adults-only, too!
And finally: Royal Hideaway Playacar
This resort had the highest TripAdvisor ratings (92% positive) and was still in our budget. It featured many of the same amenities as Zoetry and EPM, but was located close to the main Cancun area. Mr. Snow really liked this one based on ratings.
So, which did we pick???
*one exhausted, sick-of-honeymoon-researching drum roll please*
ZOETRY!!
So, how’d we end up with the most expensive location? By stalking travel websites for well over two weeks until we found a deal! In the end, the headaches of research and comparison were worth it, and we found Zoetry on some major 40% sale. In the end we decided there probably wouldn’t be tons of children, and we’d pay more at either of our other top-two resorts for the same amenities we’d get with the most basic room at Zoetry (oceanview, airport transfers, etc.). It’ll probably be a little isolated, but we’re not sure we could accomplish or afford a ton of excursions with 4 days and our smallish budget. And we’ll have to live without the Cancun party scene.
More than anything, I think we were just relieved to be done with the research. Don’t get me wrong, we’re really excited now that we’ve decided, but at the time I would have agreed to just about anywhere as long as we didn’t have to look at any more reviews.
Over the past few days, I’ve gotten sucked into reading more reviews of the other two spots we didn’t choose and worrying that we haven’t made the right choice even though we’re very happy with our decision. I think part of my reasoning is that there aren’t as many reviews out there about Zoetry as there are about the other two (if you search for it on Weddingbee, NOTHING comes up!
). This honeymoon research has been just about the most stressful part of our wedding planning, if you can believe it…
So, has anyone been to Zoetry? Heard about Zoetry? And did anyone else have honeymoon ambivalence when it was all said and done?
