Mrs. Mouse's Picture
Mrs. Mouse, Austin Age and Occupation: 25, Weddingbee Editor/Attorney Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Civil Engineer Engagement Date: December 19, 2007 Wedding Date: September 2009 Venue: Barr Mansion About Me: I just graduated from law school and will be taking the bar, getting married, going on a honeymoon with my guy, and then trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!
About Mrs. Mouse

Before I reveal the big surprise from our reception dinner, I’d like to take a moment to share with you one of my favorite aspects of our wedding: the dinner music. The Dude and I had a very strong vision for what we wanted our guests to hear as they munched down on the yummy organic food, and it wasn’t your typical wedding music. No Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, or Motown in sight (not that we don’t chill to some Marvin Gaye or Al Green when the time is right). Instead, we wanted music that set a dreamy mood. For us, that meant fuzzy guitars, minor keys, shoegaze, local artists, indie bands, and a few unexpected classics. We didn’t pay attention to lyrics—at all.

I’d love to share the whole playlist with you guys at this time, as it’s something I’m very proud of.

I think more than anything else at our wedding, the dinner music really reflected who we are as a couple. We got so many compliments on it, too! Even though it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I think most of our guests appreciated the change of pace from “typical” wedding music. I know our photographers did—they told us it was the best music they’d ever heard at a wedding. That might have been my favorite compliment from the whole day.

Now I am left with the oh-so-difficult task of selecting one song from this list of our favorites to sum up our wedding dinner master playlist.

It wasn’t easy, but here you go.

That sounds awesome. We are definitely not into doing the typical standards at our wedding.

Love your list and it does really fit you both — as much as I know you from your posts :)
Probably going to steal some of these songs for my mix of indie and standards at dinner.

@Miss Starlet: Wow, you met Thom Yorke! I am so jealous! I’ve never even seen them live, though I’m dying to.

@mouse… that was years ago, when I was still cool! I thought for sure, for years, that he was my lost true love!! And he couldn’t even buy me a drink, bc I was under 21! I have a friend of a friend that workrd for a band that toured with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and I am soooo jealous of him! I’ve seen Radiohead live several times. Greatest live band I’ve ever seen. Hands down.

Love this! We are probably going to have a playlist full of music none of our guests recognize, haha. I love the idea of non-traditional music.
