Reasons to Want Rain on Your Wedding Day

A reason to want rain? Well, most people want sunny days and blue skies. And others who are obsessed with pictures (guilty as charged) want cool pictures with umbrellas. I totally understand the hassle and tension that having a rainy day might bring, but I think this set of pictures should ease your concerns a little. You can make the most of your day, regardless of the weather. You may miss the sunny pictures, but you’ll covet these rainy day pictures that sunny day brides cannot have.

And here are some more umbrellas, especially of the school pride variety. (Go Bruins!)

Or how about cloudy skies where you’re lucky enough to get a break in the clouds for your outdoor ceremony? Talk about adding suspense to your day!

I’m totally okay either way. We’re getting married on a COVERED bridge for a reason! :-)

Thanks for these pictures! It makes me feel a little better about the possibility of rain on our day.

While I like the look of these pictures – they are fabulous – I would have been kinda bummed, had it rained on our wedding day. Especially since it was outside & would have had to be under a tent if it rained – & those pictures would NOT have been so nice. But, we had blue sunny skies, so I was a happy little quiche :)

Rain photos may looks edgy, but actually LIVING the day would probably suck unless you are a short-dress bride with Wellingtons at the ready! Praying for 75 and sunny…

Ahh, rain…that’s a toss-up for me. Gorgeous photos (with umbrellas and galoshes, naturally) = win. The anxiety I would most likely feel = not win. LOL!

After 164 days of no rain…San Diego decided to break it’s streak and it rained on our wedding day. I stressed that day and the night before (I woke up every couple hours to see if it was still raining). But the rain did stop just in time for our outdoor wedding (last photo by Melissa McClure above) and it started raining again as soon as we left for our reception. We had gorgeous photos and because our ceremony was right next to the ocean, we had crashing waves during our ceremony which we thought was awesome. The stress was worth it for us and they say it’s good luck…so we’re glad it rained. :)

I am worried about rain. Our rain plan is kinda stinky compared to the oceanfront ceremony we’ll have with nice weather.

Just finished a weekend filled with unmet expectations due to rain. But after nearly 4 inches of rain in 24 hours, everyone agrees the experience was even more memorable. Photos are still coming and will be up on my blog, but suffice to say IF it rains on your wedding day consider yourself blessed. Blessed, knowing your marriage starts with a healthy cleansing. Good luck and happy weddings.
