Mrs. Hot Wings's Picture
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Psych Grad Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Psych Grad Student Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
About Mrs. Hot Wings

A reason to want rain? Well, most people want sunny days and blue skies. And others who are obsessed with pictures (guilty as charged) want cool pictures with umbrellas. I totally understand the hassle and tension that having a rainy day might bring, but I think this set of pictures should ease your concerns a little. You can make the most of your day, regardless of the weather. You may miss the sunny pictures, but you’ll covet these rainy day pictures that sunny day brides cannot have.

I’m scared it is going to rain. I have parasols, but they are only made of paper.

I’m worried it might rain too. I am trying to find an umbrella in each of our colors at least for myself and my FI to hold during our shoot. Really I’m just worried about freezing since I’m wearing a tiny dress AND getting my new shoes wet. Haha.

I’m scared to death about rain. Despite the fact its ina clear heated tent-I just don’t want my wedding/reception to be an inconvience to people…perhaps a lil rain during the “first look” photos and the drizzle goes away…hmmm.

As long as I have some time to get some photos outside I don’t care. We have an indoor reception with the ceremony on the patio so the inside is backup.

Love the photos! It’s a good reminder to have that no matter what, the photos and the day will be beautiful and amazing.

To be honest, I haven’t really thought about rain — both of our venues are indoors, though, so that helps. Might complicate our outdoor photos, though! Umbrella pics = awesome.

A little- we have been having a lot of rain lately- unheard of for this area! So I ordered some rain boots just in case.

If its too bad we will just move it all inside to the reception area. Hopefully we will have some pretty clouds in the sky, and a break in the rain for the ceremony if it happens.

Not so much. To me, the worst would be grey and dull weather - no sun, nu rain, no anything, just plain ol’ boring.

Totally want rain. I mean Seattle in April… There is almost no chance of getting out of it. I’ve been loving the rainy day/umbrella pics too.

Thanks for this post! Wedding in Seattle in December? Yep, it’s likely to be dark and stormy. Luckily, we have a whole store devoted to beautiful umbrella and parasol rentals!

@sapphirebride: holy crap. Are you serious?!?! There are rentals. I’m on it!!! Soooo on it! I don’t care if it rains. Umbrellas are great for blocking out the August sun in Southern Cali too!

Ooh, I’d love for it to rain. It’d fit our theme :P Hehe, no seriously though, apparently it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day. And I do covet those pictures. Very much so.

I’m already imagining it’ll rain. June in New England is so unpredictable. I definitely need a sassy umbrella, just in case!

We were sweatin’ it a little, but we had perfect weather; fabulous luck…one of the things we DID to make sure stuff worked out was buy vinyl parasols for the BMs instead of paper! Cute AND functional!

It rained and it stunk. It totally deep sixed our outdoor pictures. Photog told me I would get my dress too wet if we went outside. My mom and Aunt said it was ridiculous to buy special umbrellas and rain boots.

I’m not worried about our rain, but we’re keeping everything inside, so it wouldn’t affect us too much. We could get some fun portraits in the rain, though!

Im worried about HUMIDITY, let alone full out rain. My hair is super fine and will curl/loose curl/basically do whatever it wants to do and not what I want it to do in anything over like 2% humidity (ok, so that’s an exageration, but you get my point)
